Who will be your new colleagues?

The Finance function within Aegon Asset Management (AAM) Global consists of 2 sub functions: Financial Control & Reporting and Financial Planning and Management Information.  Together we are 34 employees who are working in 4 different locations: The Hague, Groningen, Edinburgh and Cedar Rapids (US). The place of employment for this role is The Hague. As of 2025, Aegon Asset Management will move to the World Trade Center at Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport.

Financial Control & Reporting consists of separate teams per AAM legal entity and are focused on the administration and reporting of AAM’s legal entities. The Financial Planning & Management Information function is focused on financial business partnering and providing management information (Actuals and Forecast/Budget) to the AAM’s Global business.

As Financial Controller you will have a significant functional presence and an important role. You will focuse on high quality reporting, providing key management information to a wide variety of stakeholders and on actively partnering with stakeholders to contribute to AAM achieving its goals.

You will have close working relationship with Aegon Group Finance as well as with other business areas focusing on financial reporting and analysis.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide data, facts, analyses and other relevant information in order to improve insight and effective decision making to ultimately achieve better company performance,
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and internal risk policies and controls by maintaining current knowledge of regulatory requirements and implementing effective processes and internal controls,
  • Perform data gathering, consolidation, analysis, reporting and validation of data reported in internal and external systems,
  • Deliver robust, reliable, and predictable consolidated reporting to the AAM organization and AEGON Group (M/Q/Y) as well as other key stakeholders on the development of operating result, revenues, expenses, assets and flows.
  • Liaise with different areas of the business globally regarding AAMs financial positions.
  • Prepare for reporting, including but not limited to:
    • Financial Statements according to Dutch GAAP and RJ
    • Regulatory Reports: Finrep, IFD/IFR, MESRAP, MER, CBS, IDEP reports to DNB and CBS
    • Internal Adequacy and Risk Assessment Process (ICARAP)
    • Capital Reporting
    • Management reporting
    • Other consolidation and reporting
  • Act as finance liaison to the strategic partnerships and work together with other finance team members on this.
  • Provision of support for decision making including assistance in strategic decision making and project costing. Also support of creating business cases, critical challenge on whether these are sufficiently appealing and achievable.
  • Effective and continuous challenge of expenditure and identification of opportunities to derive cost efficiencies and process enhancement.
  • Preparation of benchmark analysis and trend reporting and actively partnering with management to translate outcomes into specific actions.
  • Preparation of headcount information and movement analysis together with HR.
  • Provide finance support for new fund/product launches, cocreating the business case etc.
  • Document processes and review for continued suitability. Make recommendations for process enhancements/ improvements.
  • Carry out ad hoc business project support work.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Master’s degree in a finance / accounting related subject,
  • Designation as a Register Controller (‘RC’) or Certified Public Account (‘RA’) and knowledge of Oracle and Tagetik are advantageous
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in the Asset Management industry,
  • Knowledge of financial reporting requirements (mainly Dutch GAAP and RJ), IFRS is preferred,
  • Technical skills and understanding of automated reporting processing (this includes consistent attention to detail and ability to deal with exceptions),
  • Accountability, Agility, and Entrepreneurship: Able to show passion and combined with proactive behaviour and flexibility around month-end and quarter-end closings,
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word, MS Powerpoint, PowerBI
  • Strong team player able to build and maintain a high-quality internal network in a global organization, to steer a function across countries and to manage various stakeholders in a trustful and honest way,
  • Fluent in both English and Dutch.
