The Manager of Network and Telecommunications will be responsible for leading and solving for network architecture, network engineering and design, telecommunications engineering, and providing Level 3 support of the overall company IT infrastructure both on-premise and in the cloud.  The highly technical Manager will lead and mentor a team of technical team members, contractors, and outsourced managed services covering operations, engineering, and 24x7 Network Operations Center roles.  A culture of excellent customer service, accountability, and measured optimal performance of team members and systems is expected. The Manager will partner with internal stakeholders, supporting regular internal service reviews with business leaders which ensure all areas of IT are delivering the services needed to keep company technology working successfully for our team members.  They will also partner with other IT leaders to ensure support metrics and service level agreements are appropriately measured and managed. The Manager will manage relationships with key vendors such as hardware and software suppliers, conducting regular contract and service reviews to ensure the company is well supported and fiscally responsible.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Team management, coaching, mentoring including the development and measurement of policies, procedures, and performance KPIs.

  • Network and Telecommunications architecture, project and solution design.

  • Work with the Cybersecurity team to implement, monitor, and support the security initiatives of the company.

  • Manage the budgeting, maintenance, and life cycle of the company’s network and telecom systems including but not limited to, routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.

  • Network project and support delivery.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in IT support and networking roles in a corporate IT environment.

  • 3 years of experience in leading IT team members in a management capacity.

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience working adjacent to support and server technology teams

  • Direct hands-on experience with network transport, design, planning, and implementation.  

  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of LAN and WAN protocols, WAN architectures, firewall technologies, client/server architectures, forward/reverse proxies, VPNs, load balancers, VoIP, DNS, DHCP, and routing.

  • Experience working with change management in an enterprise IT organization.  At Akumin, change is regulated by HIPAA laws and compliance standards.

  • Experience implementing, monitoring and proactive issue management processes so as to reduce downtime across the organization.  

  • Experience understanding the enterprise applications transiting the data network, ascertaining the effect these have on other data feeds, and the ability to engineer solutions to ensure they are successful.  

  • Understand and implement policy, procedure, and measurement KPIs to aid in performance management and HIPAA Security and Privacy compliance. 

  • 5% Travel may be required. 

Preferred

  • 3 years of experience in healthcare technology supporting roles is preferred.

  • Experience with telephony routing, IVR, and call center / contact center solutions is highly desirable.

  • Experience with Cisco routers and switches

  • Experience with Cisco Meraki routers, switches, wireless.

  • Experience with Palo Alto firewall management.
