Finding the right place to grow your career isn’t (over) easy, so we’re here to help by sharing a few reasons why the grass is greener at Vital Farms. We think you’ll appreciate our focus on Conscious Capitalism, which drives business decisions that benefit all our stakeholders (leading to even better business results). You might be drawn to our innovative approach and refusal to settle for the “way things have always been done.” Or you could find it exciting to grow your skills while working for an industry-leading brand. Whether you’re into our values, our brand, or our egg-cellent puns, we hope you’ll join our Crew and help us change the world 108 square feet at a time!

At Vital Farms, we are proud of our incredible stakeholders, and the diversity they represent from all areas and communities in which we operate and serve. We view this as a source of strength for us and your job is to help us make it even better.

Your Role:

You like to make things happen and work with fun, super smart and, most importantly, off the charts caring people who give a sh*t about what we do, how we do it and the impact we have. You were in mathletes in high school, aced your SAT, or are just simply killing in the hard knocks of life.  Perhaps your previous jobs have been described as a professional problem solver and a team player….the kind that actually gets things done, and has fun along the way.  Sounds like you? Then we are pretty sure we have your dream job.

At Vital Farms, we are hiring a Director of Strategy to take on tough problems, work with the awesome crew we have across the company to do so (see *description* above), and make stuff happen.  Note: If you just like making pretty PowerPoint / slide deck pages, and don’t like bringing them to life then read no further.

What You'll Do:

  • Assess internal and external risk and opportunities; bring facts, analysis, and judgement together to identify opportunities, risks, make recommendations, and drive business decisions
  • Collaborate with the Strategy team and leaders across the organization on our Strategic Plan (the process and bringing it to life)
  • Scope and plan projects (i.e., ensure clarity at the start, set goals, goals and objectives, identify key milestones, create a high-level project plan, identify risks, and set metrics)
  • Lead projects that will drive performance (financial, operational) for stakeholders (e.g., lead cross functional teams, drive change via change management best practices, and track delivery of milestones and key metrics)
  • Conduct end-to-end problem solving (i.e., structure the approach, identify key stakeholders, conduct relevant analysis (qual and quant), develop the "story", provide recommendations that drive decisions and action)
  • Create clear and compelling communications for internal and external audiences
  • Be a thought partner to the SVP of Strategy, crew and other leaders across Vital Farms
  • Collaborate with leaders across functions to assess opportunities and bring decisions to life
  • Drive change and continuously improve the Ways of Working at Vital Farms to operate effectively

What You Bring to the Table:

  • BA/BS degree required. MBA or relevant Masters preferred
  • You have experience at a top tier Strategy Consulting firm, in house strategy team or comparable (e.g., FP&A, Corp Dev)
  • 7+ years total experience in Strategy / related work
  • Ability to travel 10-20% for company meetings, team offsites, employee onboarding trips and other business needs
  • You excel operating with an “AND” approach
    • you speak your mind and listen actively
    • you excel in ambiguous situations and add a little order to chaos
    • you can structure a problem and solve the problem
    • you are great at conceptual and analytical problem solving (that drive to decisions and actions)
    • you balance the strategic and tactical
    • you have a bias for action (i.e., you ask “how can we?” vs. “can we?”) and look before you leap
    • you run hard and inspire others to go along (i.e., a change agent – with strong change management skills)
    • You can prioritize and work in an agile environment
  • You like to test (and scale quickly) new approaches and are continuously looking to improve things
  • You have a team player mindset (because 1+1 can equal 3) and experience leading cross functional teams (across all levels) to do seemingly impossible things
  • You have executive presence, killer communication (written and verbal)
  • You have stellar meeting management skills
  • Powerpoint and excel mastery is a must!
  • You’re no hero – You know the power of teamwork and celebrate the work of others before your own.
  • You give a sh*t – You believe in acting like an owner and making Vital Farms a place to be proud of.
  • You raise the standards – You know growth can be hard, but you strive to improve yourself and others each day.
  • You can walk in someone else’s boots – You seek to understand other’s viewpoints and think that you get to better answers by sitting on the same side of the table.
  • You don’t walk on eggshells – You’re not afraid to leave the bullsh*t behind and have honest conversations.

What We Bring to the Table:

  • A fast-paced, energetic, remote environment with passionate people who are leading a movement to bring ethically produced food to the table.
  • Competitive pay and benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, and Paid Parental Leave, just to name a few).

  • Professional development opportunities and an amazing team dedicated to your growth.
