Accounts Payable Specialist

Finance Department

  

The Opportunity Alliance is looking to fill the Accounts Payable Specialist

position with our Finance Department.

The Accounts Payable Specialist is an Accounting technical support position in the Finance Department This position contributes to the accomplishment of the Agency's mission through the performance of all duties associated with the recording billing, reporting and reconciling of the Agency's accounts payable software system.

This position attends and participates in periodic finance department staff meetings.

Work is performed. reviewed, and evaluated under the supervision of the Accounts Payable Manager.

Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, M - F

Location: Office is located in South Portland, ME. This position may work remotely in ME but may need to come into the office at various times.

Qualifications: 

  • Associate degree in Accounting preferred.  A combination of a high school diploma with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a computerized accounts payable environment experience required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a computerized accounts payable environment.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles and general business practices.
  • Demonstrated speed and accuracy utilizing a 10-key adding machine and data entry.
  • Exceptional attention to detail required.
  • Experience with The Financial Edge Accounting software preferred, or similar experience.
  • Strong skill in Microsoft Excel and Word software packages.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and adhere to deadlines.
  • Ability to function effectively in a team environment required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background, child protective service check & sex offender check.
  • Must not be on the state or federal suspension and disbarment list.
  • Normal office conditions such as sitting, with occasional standing, walking, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, typing and lifting up to 10 pounds.
  • Driving may be necessary to attend meetings and trainings but is not a primary and essential job responsibility.
