The Business Systems Data Specialist is an entry-level role designed to support business architecture by managing data sets and ensuring the integrity and availability of data for strategic decision-making. This position is crucial for a SaaS business, where accurate and timely data powers key performance indicators (KPIs) across various revenue-generating teams such as marketing, sales development, partnerships, sales, and customer success. The Business Systems Data Specialist will work closely with business architects, system administrators, and data teams to ensure that the right data is available and actionable. This role requires a systems thinker with experience in Salesforce.com and an understanding of the business processes that drive a SaaS company’s success.

What you’ll do:
- Data Management & Availability:
- Manage, maintain, and update data sets within Salesforce and other integrated systems, ensuring data accuracy and availability. This is critical for enabling accurate KPI tracking and reporting across marketing, sales, partnerships, customer success, and sales development teams.
- Input and oversee data in various platforms and business systems to support the overall business architecture, ensuring the data is available when needed.
- Collaboration with Revenue-Generating & Data Teams:
- Work closely with revenue operations teams that support marketing, sales, partnerships, sales development, and customer success teams to understand their data needs and ensure that their requirements are met.
- Ensure that key data sets are structured to support the KPIs that drive performance across these teams.
- Work closely with business stakeholders to ensure critical data is accessible for key decision-making and reporting.
- Data Quality & Integrity:
- Regularly audit and cleanse data across systems to maintain consistency, accuracy, and usability. Identify discrepancies in data flows and work with the relevant teams to resolve them.
- Implement quality checks and establish continuous monitoring processes to ensure ongoing data integrity.
- Data Collection, Transformation, and Reporting Processes:
- Request new data collection, transformation, and reporting processes to adapt to evolving business requirements. Support the integration of various business systems (CRM, marketing automation, sales platforms) by ensuring that data flows accurately across these platforms.
- Assist in developing scalable data models and infrastructure to support reporting across the business.
- Governance, Compliance, and Documentation:
- Help define, enforce, and document policies for data collection, quality, and governance. Ensure adherence to data privacy standards and compliance regulations.
- Maintain documentation for all data management processes, ensuring transparency and consistency across teams.
- KPI Development & Enablement:
- Contribute to the design and implementation of KPIs to measure performance across marketing, sales, partner, and customer success teams. Structure data sets to ensure they effectively support KPIs that drive decision-making.
- Business Process Support & System Integration:
- Collaborate with business architects, system administrators, and data teams to align data sets with the overall business strategy.
- Support change management efforts related to data by ensuring smooth adoption of new systems and processes across the organization.
- Assist in documenting and improving data-related business processes to drive operational efficiencies.
- Monitoring & Troubleshooting Data Quality:
- Continuously monitor data quality, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with technical teams to resolve data-related challenges in a timely manner.
- Career Path: This role provides a pathway to more senior positions such as Business Architect, Data Architect, or Systems Analyst, where the individual will take on greater responsibility for designing and optimizing data infrastructures and business processes at an enterprise level.
Who You Are
- 3-5 years of experience in a data management, business systems, operations, or data governance role, ideally within a SaaS or technology-driven business.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Data Science, in a related quantitative field.
- Fluent in English
- Experience working with Salesforce.com (preferably as a user or administrator) and familiarity with data management in a SaaS environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Basic understanding of business processes in marketing, sales, partnerships, and customer success functions.
- Ability to see the big picture and understand how data and systems support business goals and cross-departmental functions.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate data requirements clearly.
- Ability to display independent judgment to make decisions where no clear precedents exist; adjusts plans and deliverables with the right approvals and the business goals in mind.
- Proficiency in Excel, Google Sheets, or other data tools to perform analysis and create reports.
- Interest in data architecture and business systems.
- Experience with eCommerce and/or SaaS subscription models and related metric, a plus.
- Ambitious, self-motivated, goal-oriented, proactive, comfortable independently solving problems despite ambiguity and collaborating as necessary.
- Proven ability to ensure data accuracy, perform data audits, and implement quality control processes.
- Data stewardship or Operations experience preferred.
- Understanding of data governance, data quality management, and business intelligence frameworks preferred.
- Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal relationship skills.
- Excellent time-management skills.
