Dow Jones seeks a results-oriented, independent Consultant to drive new business development and accelerate The Wall Street Journal’s (WSJ) expansion in South Korea. The role’s core mandate is to identify, qualify, and negotiate initial commercial frameworks for high-value, revenue-generating partnerships.
This is a hunter role requiring strategic market expertise, decisive business development execution, and adept relationship management within South Korea’s corporate culture. The Consultant will deliver a measurable pipeline of qualified agreements, serving as the frontline representative for WSJ, Barron’s, and other Dow Jones consumer brands in the region.
Compensation: Commission-based, directly tied to the successful negotiation and securement of new strategic partnerships.
The Consultant will focus exclusively on new acquisition and pre-revenue engagement, with responsibility for:
Target Partner Acquisition: Build and execute a pipeline strategy targeting high-value non-publisher companies, including banks, wealth managers, financial institutions, and premium loyalty programs.
Commercial Negotiation & Term Sheet Delivery: Originate, lead, and close negotiations for new partnerships, securing signed pre-revenue Term Sheets for WSJ and other consumer subscriptions.
Executive-Level Relationship Closure: Cultivate and leverage relationships with C-suite and senior decision-makers to accelerate deal closure.
Internal Handoff & Qualification: Ensure all agreements are rigorously vetted for legal, financial, and operational viability, and deliver comprehensive handoff briefs to Dow Jones operational teams.
South Korean Market Expertise: Deep knowledge of Korea’s corporate and financial services landscape, with a proven record of securing new business. An established network of contacts is strongly preferred.
Language Fluency: Native-level Korean (written and spoken) is mandatory.
Business Development & Negotiation Track Record: Minimum 10 years of experience in hunter-style business development, sales, or strategic consulting, with demonstrable success in structuring and closing complex commercial agreements—ideally involving digital content, data, or subscription services.
Advisory Acumen: Experience providing strategic recommendations and executing initiatives that deliver tangible business outcomes.
Independent Execution: Proven ability to operate autonomously, manage a demanding pipeline, and remain focused on achieving commission-based targets.
