DESCRIPTION:

As an Estimator at Tutor Perini Building Corp, reporting to the Vice President of Preconstruction, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Work with other Estimators in the assignment of project related responsibilities from conceptual estimating to preparation of GMP’s

  • Quantify, analyze, and disseminate, to project estimating team, the detailed project program (work breakdown structure, room counts, functions, areas, etc.) during a project kick-off meeting

  • Review, interpret, quantify, and accurately estimate cost in accordance with the project documents

  • Identify and mitigate project related risk through strategic buyout and budget contingencies

  • Solicit, collect and critically analyze Subcontractor/Vendor budgets, bids or quotations associated with assigned projects or packages

  • Review and verify Scope of Work and pricing (Subcontractor Analysis Sheets) of other project team members when acting as the project lead estimator

  • Presents the project scope of work, estimated costs, risks and opportunities to executive management during the final review of assigned estimates

  • Participate in the presentation of proposals, budgets, etc. to clients and prospective clients

  • Coordinate the delivery of appropriate project files for assigned projects to Operations Staff during a project turnover meeting using the Turnover Meeting Agenda and Checklist

  • Participate and coordinate participation of project estimating team in the buyout process with operations

  • Complete all required paperwork for bids or proposals (such as bid forms, bonding requirements, etc.)

  • Provides support to Project Operations Team for Change Order estimating, extended buyout after Contract or turnover to Operations Team and other estimating support as required

  • Visit Tutor Perini Building Corp. project sites as frequently as practical to observe construction operations at various phases and become familiar with jobsite logistics, means and methods, and Operations personnel

  • Be involved in preconstruction Training Programs, becoming proficient in all aspects of preconstruction

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in Engineering or Construction Management or similar from an accredited institution

  • Five or more years of experience in commercial construction estimating

  • Excellent communication skills to effectively solicit and work with individual project owner’s representatives, material suppliers and subcontractors in pre-bid estimate preparations and post-bid negotiations

  • Capable of effectively working within a cohesive estimating team to facilitate comprehensive cost proposals and conclude efforts during team reviews on major projects

  • Experienced in estimating software tools On-Center and Timberline or similar preferred
