As a PBP, you’ll partner with clinic and virtual care leadership to help them Get Sh*t Done—ensuring the right people strategies drive outcomes that matter. You’ll work closely with teams, providing feedback, recommending coaching, and fostering growth in ways that truly Communicate with Care and respect the humans (and animals!) we serve. What you’ll be working on:
Strategic Partnership & Alignment:
- Develop genuine, collaborative partnerships with area, virtual and regional managers, serving as the HR expert for a multi-state area.
- Ensure HR policies and required processes align with state-specific and federal employment laws.
- Partner with higher-level business leaders to develop and execute HR strategies focused on:
- Talent management
- Organizational effectiveness
- Human capital planning
- Workforce planning
- Team member engagement
- Translate business priorities into high-impact HR initiatives aligned with the overall business objectives.
- Provide data-driven recommendations to clinic leaders, helping them "look around corners" to improve performance, retention, and the overall team member experience.
Coaching & Expertise:
- Act as a coach to clinic leaders, providing feedback on leadership style and fostering a positive work environment.
- You’ll coordinate seamlessly with our broader People team while being the go-to HR resource for your clinic leaders, ensuring we have continuous improvement in our processes.
Talent Management & Development:
- Support and contribute to regional and company-wide care team engagement and culture initiatives to grow eNPS year over year through surveys and action planning processes.
- Facilitate management training and development, driven by content to grow management capacity and eNPS at clinic and regional levels.
- Create and utilize a clinic health dashboard and people planning tool to drive improvement in each clinic's people development and engagement.
- Recommend new approaches to improve the efficiency of the HR function.
- Facilitate and support bi-annual performance review processes in partnership with the clinic leadership team and the people support team.
- Work with Modern Animal leaders to identify high performers, build a strong talent bench, and facilitate succession planning and talent management processes.
Employee Relations:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for area and clinic leaders on care team-related matters.
- Conduct timely investigations of Employee Relations issues and provide strategic direction to mitigate risk, partnering with Legal counsel as needed.
- Manage team member relations issues, including investigations, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions.
- Promote a positive and inclusive work environment.
- Provide guidance on team member policies and procedures.
Collaboration & Coordination:
- Establish, build and maintain positive relationships with the broader people support team to ensure all elements of HR are successfully coordinated to meet business needs.
- Contribute to the design and delivery of programs and initiatives to attract, retain, and promote a diverse and inclusive workforce.
Reasonable Accommodations:
- Collaborate with clinic leadership teams to identify and implement reasonable accommodations for team members with disabilities.
- Ensure compliance with relevant disability laws and regulations.
- Work with team members and managers to create and implement accommodation plans.
- Maintain confidential records related to reasonable accommodations.
Why you’d be a great fit:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in Human Resources and HR compliance
- Advanced knowledge of HR best practices, policies and procedures
- Preferred experience in healthcare or veterinary care
- PHR certification or SHRM preferred
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects across multiple stakeholders / locations
- Experience working within a multi-unit structure supporting both corporate and field based team members
- Operate with high emotional intelligence and exceptional listening / communication skills
- Enthusiasm for solution-oriented thinking
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Proficiency in HRIS software (preferably UKG) and Google Suite is a plus
- Passion for animal welfare and the veterinary industry

Role Requirements:
- Hybrid: 3 days in-office (Culver City, CA) + travel to clinics
- Based in Los Angeles, CA
- Ability to travel up to 80% to various clinic locations (currently, SF, TX, AZ, and CO, with future growth expected)

The pay range for this position is $101,000 - $137,000 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on bonus and equity grant units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. This information is provided per the California Pay Transparency Act. Base pay information is based on geographic location.
