Job Summary - Sr. Director, Product Strategist, Priority Health

The Product Strategist is responsible for setting and managing the overall strategic direction for the value stream and product portfolio and enabling funding for the value stream. They will set key priorities across the value stream, as well as provide oversight and guidance to their Product Manager(s) and Product Owner(s).

This position will lead Product Manager(s) and Product Owners to actively manage a portfolio of products and solutions that aligns with organizational strategies, enhances our brand and competitive position in the marketplace, and delights our customers. The scope of this role includes enabling end-to-end success of the value stream and product portfolio, including product roadmap development and delivery, in close collaboration with execution and strategic partners.

This is a critical, highly visible, collaborative, strategic leadership role that crosses department boundaries and will drive significant value for our organization and our customers. The person will be a thought leader in product management, strategy, execution and communication of the value stream's strategic direction and vision.

Essential Functions - Sr. Director, Product Strategist, Priority Health
  • Has ownership for value stream priorities and success, spanning across team of teams / Agile Release Trains and operational teams in the value stream; Sets strategic direction for the value stream and product portfolio to deliver value; Prioritizes value stream outcomes according to strategic market value; oversees holistic value enablement across value stream, including all products
  • Leads business planning efforts and presents the business plan to enable funding and business investment for the value stream (partnering with finance); Responsible for defining, prioritizing, managing and delivering defined business value annually; supported with significant capital investment in addition to all non-capital initiatives identified for delivery within the value stream.
  • Provides input to product roadmaps that create value for customers and users; anticipates future opportunities, consequences and trends; provides overall portfolio vision and input to product-level vision; Develops Objectives & Key Results (OKRs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure product or product grouping performance
  • Provides leadership to determine answers for increasingly large problem and product areas, with corresponding thought leadership in a timely manner; Supports overall execution of large initiatives by managing risks and escalated issues
  • Understands customer, market, industry, competitors, and disruptors as well as business and organizational needs; performs and/or leverages market, product and financial analysis to help make strategic decisions about priorities
  • Regularly engages with business and Digital Services and other key stakeholders across functions and levels in the organization; Drives executive alignment, negotiation and communication where necessary, with the ability to say “no” to leadership, when needed; Leads and influences cross-functional teams without formal authority
  • Works closely with and provides support and guidance to Product Manager(s) and Product Owners in the value stream; Provides subject matter expertise in the product space and supports the modernization of product practices
  • Develops and presents compelling oral and written communications to all levels of leadership and employees

Qualifications - Sr. Director, Product Strategist, Priority Health

  • Required Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent education and experience)
  • Preferred Master's Degree (or equivalent education and experience)
  • 5 years of relevant experience in managed care or health insurance Required
  • 10 years of relevant experience Experience with product management tools and Agile methodology, ideally in an agile development environment Preferred
