What we need 

We are looking for a Senior Test Development Engineer to join our System Test team within our Hardware organization. Your job will be to collaborate with hardware and software engineering teams to design, integrate, and validate test strategies, ensuring the highest quality standards are met. Your responsibilities will include developing and maintaining software tools for EOL testing, establishing methods to measure and stimulate robot performance, and acting as a subject matter expert on EOL testing while working closely with suppliers and quality assurance teams. Additionally, you will develop diagnostic tools to troubleshoot and address hardware and software issues.

The System Test organization is part of our multidisciplinary group dedicated to validating the performance of Symbotic’s warehouse automation system and driving the highest standards of quality and reliability. System Test is responsible for all aspects of test planning and execution, from early-stage new product development initiatives to continuous improvement of our products in the field.  Every improvement, idea and invention you make gets tested and quickly implemented because our solutions are already in use by some of the nation’s largest retailers.  We solve important global challenges that involve technology, business, science and logistics  

 

What you’ll do 

  • Provide technical leadership across engineering teams to develop, innovate, and continually improve product design.  

  • Lead development for the mobile robot diagnostic and repair application.  

  • Collaborate with other development teams and product managers to breakdown requirements, design solutions and execute on business requirements.  

  • Perform and guide activities such as design and code reviews, identifying improvements to software quality, performance, and integration tests.  

  • Lead implementation of complex designs within the team and partner with others to develop cross functional features. 

  • Develop procedures, training plans and debug decision trees for manufacturing test technicians. 

  • Collect and analyze product performance data to refine test criteria and improve test methods. 

  • Work in a dynamic Agile/Scrum based environment. 

  • Demonstrate passion about building high quality software, love solving problems and facing new challenges.   

  • Analyze a system of distributed software components using performance, profiling, and debugging tools.   

 

What you’ll need 

  • BS in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical, or other related Engineering discipline. 

  • 8+ years of professional experience in related field 

  • Expert level experience with .NET frameworks, C#, C++, WPF, Python, Angular web frameworks or similar web technologies and SQL a plus 

  • Experience with Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) for software development, preferably Visual Studio. 

  • Experience with embedded systems, electrical control theories, motors, sensors, vision systems and/or communications protocols (CANBus, Ethernet, etc.) 

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills; able to effectively present technical information to management and suppliers. 

  • Self-motivated, highly organized, and able to handle multiple tasks with nominal direction. 

  • Ability to travel up to 10%.

 

Our Environment

  • Up to 10% may be required. Employees must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations. 
  • The employee is responsible for owning a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis.
