The Opportunity

This position is based in Alameda, CA in the Abbott Diabetes Care Division. We are helping people with Diabetes lead healthier, happier lives.   As a global leader in diabetes care, Abbott is constantly working to deliver the highest quality products and unwavering support to our customers.  Consistent and accurate glucose monitoring is the foundation of any diabetes management plan so we’re committed to continuous improvement in the way patients and professionals measure, track and analyze glucose levels.   

The Program Manager III supports Global commercialization of new products, business process improvements and management of key End-of-Life initiatives. You will take ownership of the company’s global product end-to end processes through Project management, Change management and Lean thinking. This role requires strong process improvement skills and project experience. You will define, plan, coordinate and integrate activities associated with upgrades / changes to existing products or new products commercialization within the overall business portfolio on time, on budget and on strategy. This is an onsite opportunity in Alameda, CA

What You’ll Work On

  • Analyze current business processes and workflows to identify areas for improvement
  • Develop and implement process improvement strategies and initiatives
  • Map and implement concept of Continuous Improvement across the company in the pursuit of key business deliverables
  • Foster a change control environment that effectively delivers change while, accelerating outcomes, and minimizing transitional disruption with impacted stakeholders
  • Deliver project excellence by incorporating best practices in project management to meet and or exceed customer needs.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations on process improvement activities and outcomes and communicate results achieved to senior management.
  • Provide support on the key activities for the commercialization of new product launches or upgrades/changes to existing products.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive EOL (End of Life) project plans and communicate EOL plans and timelines to internal stakeholders,.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure all aspects of the EOL process are managed effectively.
  • Provide training and support to staff on new processes and procedures.
  • Help to prioritize activities among several programs to to balance resource availability, program status and schedule, and business need.
  • Prepares and presents information on activities, issues, and risks in the projects being managed on an as-needed basis to assure the continuity of projects. Raises issues to the appropriate level of management.

Required Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor degree or a minimum of 7 years relevant experience in a discipline appropriate to the project environment.  
  • Minimum of 7 years project management experience with at least 3 years of experience leading projects involving the application of general business principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a large/complex company environment.

Preferred:

  • Degree in business or a technical or scientific discipline or equivalent experience relevant to project area preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or Lean Six Sigma (LSS) certification preferred.
  • MBA considered a plus.
  • Minimum 2 years of Direct management/supervisory experience
  • Proven experience in a managerial role with ability to motive and inspire team members.
  • Commercial, technical, manufacturing, quality, or supply chain experience in a health care/medical device company preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with a wide variety of people at all levels of the organization within a variety of departments.
  • Cross-functional experience in areas of R&D, Commercial, Clinical, Regulatory, Quality, Operations, Marketing, and Customer Service.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

The base pay for this position is

$109,300.00 – $218,500.00
