Position Summary
In this role, you will support the Director to frame business opportunities, financial analysis, structure complex analytics, and develop insights, recommendations, and presentations for the Merchandising leadership team.

  • Use strong programming skills to write complex and efficient SQL code to develop insights from millions of transaction records. Develops dashboards, data visualizations, and reporting to analyze complex datasets and recommend solutions. Lead and performs analyses of structured and unstructured data to solve multiple and/or complex business problems utilizing advanced database queries. Structure and perform analyses, and develop reports, visualizations/ presentations that clearly demonstrate the drivers of business performance and future business outlook.
  • Collaborates with business partners to develop accurate and reliable analysis and reports that measure meaningful performance metrics. Responsible for working cross-functionally with internal and external partners on Reporting and Analytic projects.
  • Lead and/or facilitate business case development and financial impact analysis to support the annual budgeting process, forecasting process, front store growth initiative development and special projects. Directly partner with Directors of Merchandising and Category Managers to align financial expectations with business plans. Develop reporting to evaluate and ensure that category and business unit plans will achieve the budgeted and forecasted growth for the business unit.
  • Develop expertise in understanding how business and operational results affect the merchandising P&L. Understand growth levers, sales and margin trends, pricing, and the external marketplace to identify risks and opportunities. Use intellectual curiosity and problem-solving ability to uncover causal relationships and develop recommendations
  • Manage and provide coaching/guidance to team of direct reports


Required Qualifications

  • At least 8 years professional work experience
  • 8+ years of data analytics experience
  • 8+ years hands-on programming experience with SQL and relational databases like Oracle, Teradata or Snowflake
  • 8+ years’ experience structuring and leading analytical efforts to deliver relevant business insights and growth opportunities
  • 8+ Experience programming using data analysis, data modeling, programming, and visualization tools such as Python, SQL, Power BI, Alteryx, and Tableau
  • 8+ Experience with data warehousing concepts and experience working with databases such as Teradata, Oracle, Snowflake and SQL Server
  • Experience with scripting languages for automation
  • Experience with Power BI Report Builder /SSRS Power User
  • Advance level querying skills in Oracle & Teradata environments
  • Advance level DAX
  • Advance Data Modeling skills - Data Models to streamline data sets used for Power BI dashboards and automate excel based reporting
  • Power Query - Used to streamline excel based reports.
  • Advanced skills in PowerPoint and Excel
  • Superior communication and facilitation skills working with different levels of management
  • Proven ability to provide business insights and recommendations based on data analysis
  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience
  • Must be able to travel up to 10%


Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 10 years professional work experience
  • 10+ years of data analytics experience
  • 10+ years hands-on programming experience with SQL and relational databases like Oracle, Teradata or Snowflake
  • 10+ years’ experience structuring and leading analytical efforts to deliver relevant business insights and growth opportunities
  • 10+ Experience programming using data analysis, data modeling, programming, and visualization tools such as Python, SQL, Power BI, Alteryx, and Tableau
  • 10+ Experience with data warehousing concepts and experience working with databases such as Teradata, Oracle, Snowflake and SQL Server
  • Leadership and influencing skills: Highly developed oral communication skills; along with collaboration and relationship-building skills to foster working relationships and communications with senior leaders across the Retail Merchandising team and other departments. (e.g., Marketing, Store Ops, Finance, and Supply Chain)
  • Structured and logical thinking: the ability to understand the business question and then quickly develop hypotheses and organize and approach to break the problem down into the appropriate analyses to help develop insights and recommendations.
  • Bachelor's degree required or equivalent experience
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Data analytics certifications preferred
  • Degree related to finance, mathematics, operations, statistics, actuarial science, economics, or other data related fields preferred
  • Experience managing analytics teams

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$75,400.00 - $166,000.00


This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
