About the role
The iSeries (AS400) Technical Support Engineer is responsible for delivering operational services to outsourcing accounts on time, on target with quality. He/she works on 24×7 rotation. The iAction      Engineer focuses on continuous operations, Incident and change management of supported servers. The main goal is to minimize the amount of unplanned downtime in the customer's production environment and to achieve a high level of customer satisfaction and predefined Service Level Agreements. He/she works in close relationship with other teams and is under direct supervision by the team Management.

Daily challenges

  • Follow training plans, requirements and schedules as outlined by the Management
  • Incident Investigation & Diagnosis
  • Resolution and Recovery
  • Comply with processes and best practices outlined by the Team Technology Lead and Management
  • Provide technical consultation to the Shift Manager, Team Lead or Supervisor during escalations
  • Provide clear and unambiguous communication within Incident Management case tools with frequent and timely updates
  • Chase any outstanding teams for case updates as appropriate, whether internal or external, ensuring that cases are resolved in a timely manner and do not breach SLA, else, escalate to the Technical Supervisor
  • Ensure Incident Reports are sent on time

eXperience & skills required

  • Degree/Diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Management Information Systems or equivalent certifications (MCSE, MCP, Oracle/MCDBA, HP-UX, CCNA, CCNP, SNIA)
  • Knowledge of iSeries Operating Systems
  • Knowledge of Security Administration - User Profiles, Authorization Lists, Object Authority
  • Basic Knowledge over Backups
  • Basic Knowledge of batch scheduling
  • Basic Knowledge patching
  • Basic Knowledge of HMC operations
  • Basic knowledge of journal management
  • Basic knowledge of programming
  • Good communication skills
  • Good analytical skills
  • Ability to pro-actively learn new technology, processes and other skills
  • Keen interest in continual learning and professional development
  • Fluent English and Spanish
  • Willingness to work on shifts.
