Job Summary:

The Staff Attorney II works closely with other members of the Legal team; performs legal work for, and provides legal advice to, business clients at the direction of more senior attorneys on the CareSource Legal team; independently handles legal projects and assignments with oversight by more senior attorneys on the CareSource Legal team. The responsibilities and functions may include, but are not limited to, those tasks listed below.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide support to other attorneys on the CareSource Legal team
  • Responsible for a variety of subject matter areas  
  • Perform legal research and prepare memoranda
  • Manage the company’s licensing and regulatory filings
  • Review and negotiate contracts, including interfacing with business clients, outside counsel, and opposing parties and counsel regarding same
  • Manage and handle administrative hearings  
  • Monitor, summarize, advise business clients, and interface with compliance and government relations teams regarding legal and regulatory developments, including statutes and regulations governing Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, and Marketplace plans
  • Review, revise, and draft company policies, procedures, and other internal corporate documents
  • Resolve legal disputes involving the company with oversight by more senior attorneys on the Legal team
  • Attend meetings and otherwise Interact with business clients, regulators, outside counsel, and others at the direction of more senior attorneys on the Legal team
  • Prepare legal updates for the company, including by managing CareSource’s Law Library or similar database
  • Assist in business development and procurement activities at the direction of more senior attorneys on the Legal team
  • Serve as legal project management lead for larger assignments, with oversight by more senior attorneys on the Legal team
  • Perform other job duties as requested

Education and Experience:

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited college/university is required
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience practicing law at a law firm or in-house corporate environment is required
  • Experience in healthcare and/or managed care law, in particular government programs, is preferred

  • Current, unrestricted Attorney license is required

Working Conditions:

  • General office environment; may be required to sit or stand for extended periods o

Compensation Range:

$90,500.00 - $158,400.00
