About the Role

This role plays a critical role in ensuring regulatory and industry developments impacting AIA Group, AIA Co and AIA-I are tracked, communicated internally and coordinated to inform senior management of actions or decisions required to shape and steer the company's policy development strategies within the insurance industry. This role will closely monitor changes in regulatory themes, priorities and frameworks and coordinate analysis and impact assessments on AIA’s business. This role requires a thorough understanding of insurance regulations, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Policy Analysis (30%)

  • Research and analyse thematic developments and regulatory changes and their implications on AIA’s business including key regulators of AIA Group and its entities eg HKIA, NFRA, global insurance groups and associations eg IAIS, GFIA

  • Coordinate and collaborate with cross-functional teams to contribute to lobbying efforts or consultation processes, and to address regulatory-related queries;

  • Provide input to the AIA Strategic Plan on the regulatory development
     

Support in Regulatory Development and Engagement (40%)

  • Monitor and analyze Global and group-wide regulatory developments, guidelines, and directives impacting the insurance industry;

  • Stay updated on changes in Global and group-wide insurance laws, regulations, and compliance requirements;

  • Research and liaise with relevant internal subject matter experts/BU Risk and Compliance teams to evaluate existing and emerging regulatory policies and industry best practices;

  • Coordinate and collaborate with internal stakeholders/BU Risk and Compliance teams to monitor and contribute to regulatory and industry consultations;

  • Support Management in the collation of materials and information for industry and supervisory meetings, presentation, dialogues and engagements

  • Support Management and the Head of Regulatory Affairs in regulatory liaison and engagement with AIA key regulators

  • Assist on disclosures to IAIS (e.g. GIMAR – IIM and sector-wide monitoring)
     

Operation and control (20%)

  • Devise and be responsible for operating arrangements (including putting in place appropriate procedures) to achieve the deliverables;

  • Controls are operated and monitored effectively to ensure timely notification and escalation of material regulatory development and engagement, clear ownership of actions advised or communicated by a regulator and timely delivery of actions mandated or agreed with a regulator
     

Miscellaneous (10%)

  • Perform other responsibilities and duties periodically assigned by supervisor to meet operational and/or other requirements
     

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Business Administration, Economics; Advanced degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Proven experience in regulatory compliance, policy development, or a related role within the insurance industry
  • In-depth knowledge of insurance regulations and understanding of industry trends
  • Familiarity with regulatory bodies, such as insurance commissions, departments of insurance, or regulatory authorities
  • Demonstrated analytical and research skills, and capable to interpret complex regulations and policies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and meet timelines
