As the People Services Manager, APAC, you are part of our Global HR team to help us deliver efficient and modern employee and manager experiences, with company purpose and culture at the heart of what we do.

About You

We’re looking to recruit a People Services Manager, APAC reporting to the Global People Services (Shared Service) Manager, based in Poland.

This is a people leadership role for a person who is knowledgeable and able to lead and manage the provision of HR administration services and payroll services, to employees, managers, and the HR team.

What You’ll Be Doing 

Key Responsibilities 

Team Management 

  • Successfully led the regional People Services team, providing support and guidance whilst role modelling behaviours,  

  • Develop and maintain a motivated, proactive team culture reflective of the global People Services ethos, 

  • Identify development needs, manage individual performance, and complete all people processes promptly, 

  • Provide leadership and build capability within the People Services function by developing a highly effective cross-trained team with no single dependencies,  

  • Set clear expectations to inspire and motivate the team, 

  • Foster teamwork - support and engage team members to deliver by working together, 

  • Manage performance, recognize achievement, provide feedback, and address poor behavior and performance, when necessary,  

Service Delivery 

  • Develop, maintain, and manage service delivery/execution excellence in accordance with the agreed scope of services and KPIs,   

  • Oversee administration of employment life cycle including new hire processing, onboarding, payroll, employee inquiries, benefits administration, data transaction processing, maintenance of employee records and end of employee lifecycle, 

  • Ensure payroll statutory compliance with regulations in all jurisdictions, 

  • Monthly KPI reporting to enable transparency and access to information and metrics that inform HRMs, HRBPs, and People Services leadership team and business leaders,  

  • Ensure Standard Operating Procedures are followed, and documentation maintained. New scope activities should be documented in detail to support success and excellence in service delivery Conduct regular data audits for compliance in the areas of Payroll, employee, and organizational data, 

  • Support system testing and implementation of business processes as required, 

  • Identify, manage and where necessary escalate change management issues to leadership to enable rapid and appropriate response to issues, 

  • Foster a Continuous Improvement approach within the team, identifying improvement opportunities and ensuring fix and corrective actions are in place where encountering errors,  

  • Ensure business continuity of provided services, documenting, and updating process guidelines and eliminating single dependencies,  

  • Support company values and initiatives,  

  • Proactively support the usage and adoption of Workday as the single source of people (and payroll) data,  

  • Positively promote the Tate & Lyle employer brand, ensuring that purpose, culture, and employee experience is incorporated into the overall focus and delivery of the People Services team. 

  • Actively build data privacy into all that we do. 

Stakeholder Management and Collaboration 

  • Managing relationships with key stakeholders to ensure a proactive and positive experience,  

  • Support HR colleagues including the APAC HR team and other People Services regional teams where required, sharing knowledge and fostering a collective, curious, growth mindset, 

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure appropriate internal controls, governance and relevant internal audits are in place, 

  • Collaborate with counterparts in other regions to build consistency with People Services' ways of working,  

  • Own and proactive manage relationships with regional vendors,  

  • Act as primary contact for HR Audits (Internal and External),

This role is assigned to be based in Shanghai or Singapore.

What You’ll have

With proven team management skills and the ability to direct, encourage, support, and motivate; you will have gained the following skills and experience: 

  • Certified payroll professional (desirable) 

  • Experience in a shared service environment (desirable) 

  • Experience with continuous improvement, managing projects and process documentation, process development and problem-solving, 

  • Previously managed payroll activities and vendors 

  • Highly customer service-focused. 

  • Sound judgement and strong decision-making skills. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Written and verbal fluency in English and Chinese (to support the Chinese market).

  • Functional knowledge of associated HR business processes and best practices. 

  • Resilient and able to deal with changing business requirements and challenging situations positively and productively. 

  • Ability to communicate changes to stakeholders across various functions and locations. 

  • Evaluate performance and take corrective action.

  • Resolve complaints and/or grievances. 

  • Detail-oriented, high level of accuracy in work, meets deadlines and highly organized. 

  • Manages time effectively; Identifies and organizes resources needed to accomplish tasks. 

  • Demonstrated collaboration abilities. 

  • Ability to motivate and develop oneself and others.

  • Ability to work with a high level of confidentiality and proven ability to handle sensitive information.

  • Skills and experience to work with team members to resolve routine queries.  

  • Experience in Microsoft Office, Workday (HCM is highly desirable), and Case Management systems.
