Director, Retail Channel Strategy & Planning

Description -

Leads our global retail channel strategy & planning function within our channel sales organization. Responsible for the vision and strategy of the overall retail channel ecosystem and setting the strategic alignment and integration of activities across the partner programs for HP’s engagement with retail partners.  Fully accountable for the effectiveness of the HP partner program across retailers globally.  Highly influences strategy and sets policy and direction.  Owns a significant number of measurable functional, operations and strategic goals and priorities.  Contributes to the overall strategic definition of the company’s retail channel strategy with strong business acumen and strategic agility.  Acts as a key advisor to executive management in influencing the strategic direction of the business.



Responsibilities

  • Provides strategic direction and input on the overall partner strategy, overall landscape, growth plans and associated programs to achieve the desired outcomes as dictated by company strategic priorities.
  • Provides innovative thought leadership and shapes the knowledge base within area of expertise.
  • Creates a performance driven culture that ensures HP has the best strategic planning team in the industry.
  • Balances short term with long term strategies and resource investment
  • Drives high-impact organizational and operational planning initiatives
  • Influences C-level executives on a wide range of business issues, including risk management and implementation tactics
  • Provides strong leadership, develops and sets individual and departmental team performance goals and manages/drives change
  • Builds financially sound, executable, data-driven business strategies that improve HP share holder value
  • Provides strategic advice to clarify, plan, and monitor the growth of HP channel revenues via the partner programs
  • Drives operational efficiency initiatives that improve HP profitability through channel partners
  • Applies financial rigor and acumen to all initiatives that lead executive and HP business teams to share holder value based decisions related to channel benefits and engagement
  • Designs and develops business models, market strategies and associated channel programs for organizational effectiveness
  • Develops growth strategies for retail channel business models and programs
  • Leads strategy and leadership teams in developing key retail channel programs and benefits, selling models and overall partner experience
  • Provides business rational and risk assessment for making HP investment
  • Builds relationship and provides guidance to industry, community, and peers



Education & Experience Recommended

  • Management consulting experience highly desired
  • Prior leadership in a worldwide capacity
  • Achieved planned financial results at an organizational level
  • Acted as a senior advisor within a global company with demonstrated success and longevity
  • Exercised leadership on external business or industry boards
  • 15+ years total experience with at least 5+ years in retail channel leadership roles and/or in a technology retail company
  • Experience with services and subscription selling models and tactics related to retail channel engagement
  • MBA highly desired, or advanced university degree. Bachelors degree required.

  • Vertical Industry Acumen: Develops and exercises a profound understanding of business dynamics within areas of control, as a basis for informed business decision making
  • Execution Management: Collaborates effectively with HP BUs and value chain partners to ensure operational responsiveness to challenges and alignment with business imperatives
  • C-Level Partnering: Contributes to enduring executive relationships that establish HP's consultative professionalism and promotes its total solution capabilities at the highest levels of an organization
  • Business and Financial Acumen: Exhibits authoritative business and financial acumen; develop meaningful business recommendations; understands the portfolio aspect of HP's products/services and how the businesses work together
  • Change Management: Develops methods for supporting innovation and change across internal and external stakeholders
  • Approaches problems in a rational manner using sound strategies that ensure comprehensive understanding and effective resolution
  • Able to: Lead effectively in a complex and political environment, and deliver results; influence without direct authority; balance between competing priorities and be flexible and creative; drive team performance to world class; create and build highly effective teams and organizations; and communicate effectively across multiple levels in HP and the industry

Per CA and WA statutes, the estimated range of compensation for this job in these locations, at the time of this posting, is $212,500 – $287,500 USD.  This position may be eligible for incentive pay, for openings where this is applicable.
