OVERVIEW
The Illinois Refining Division in Robinson, IL, is seeking a Training Specialist in the HES&S Department to coordinate, develop, deliver, and support training activities across all departments. This role will conduct training for Robinson Refinery personnel in support of regulatory compliance and continuous improvement, using assessment tools to ensure that knowledge and skill requirements are effectively transferred in alignment with Refining Standard Practices (RSP), including RSP-1305.
Applicants shall demonstrate the ability to coordinate multiple projects aimed at engaging a diverse workforce in actively owning their learning and development. The successful candidate shall possess excellent communication, organizational, and technical skills.
This position will report directly to the site’s Process Safety Manager (PSM) Manager.
This position will be based in Robinson, IL and is not eligible for relocation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinates training programs at the facility by working with department representatives, corporate training groups, and external vendors as needed to schedule and provide quality training classes ensuring site needs and regulatory requirements are met.
Manages and facilitates in-person training classes. Coordinates logistics including scheduling, accommodations, and material printing/distribution. Provides opening and/or closing remarks as needed.
Works with employees, leaders and various subject matter experts to identify training needs.
Manages the Learning Management System and ensures all employees’ training plans and records meet regulatory and company standards.
Leverages training data and insights to drive engagement, improve training participation and completion rates, and effectively communicate progress to key stakeholders.
Proactively schedules training to ensure regulatory compliance and communicates upcoming training events and learning exceptions to employees and leaders.
Supports the distribution and coordination of training materials and information to ensure effective communication and accessibility.
Participates in training audits by clearly articulating training processes and demonstrating the management of training plans and records.
Develops and delivers orientation programs for newly hired hourly and salaried employees.
Implements emerging training technologies to address business-driven learning needs.
Facilitates classroom training and instruction.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum (Required) Qualifications
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Valid driver’s license
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time indefinite basis without the need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Training, Organizational Development, Human Resources or related field
2 years of industry or adult education experience
Experience with or ability to use Canva, Articulate Storyboard, Clipchamp, Premiere pro, and similar software for media development
LMS (Workday) and Instructional Design experience is preferred. Power BI & SharePoint experience is a plus.
SKILLS:
Strong computer proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of products.
Ability to critically analyze, organize, plan, schedule, and execute multiple projects that engage a diverse workforce in active learning.
Strong communication and organizational skills, technical expertise, self-motivation, a commitment to continuous learnings (with a focus on media arts), and the ability to work with and inspire others.
