The Role:

PlayStation is looking for a driven and passionate Software Engineer II to join the PlayStation Subscriptions Team. Apply modern web technologies to power subscription and membership experiences on the PlayStation console — an interface millions of players interact with every single day. Our team builds the systems and player experiences behind PlayStation Plus, shaping how players discover, manage, and engage with their membership across the globe.

We design and deliver scalable client applications and supporting services that operate at global scale. We value strong ownership, continuous learning, creative problem-solving, and mutual support. We hold a high standard for engineering quality and treat every challenge as an opportunity to improve. In this role, you will collaborate closely with engineering, product, design, and quality partners across the USA, Canada, Japan, and Europe to deliver reliable, production-ready software within one of the world’s most recognized entertainment brands.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications for PlayStation console experiences.

  • Own features and components end-to-end, from technical design through production support.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze requirements and implement scalable solutions.

  • Build high-performance, user-facing applications using modern JavaScript and TypeScript frameworks.

  • Establish and maintain automated tests to ensure reliability and long-term maintainability.

  • Contribute to shared libraries and reusable components to improve consistency across applications.

  • Monitor releases, analyze telemetry, and use production data to improve system performance and stability.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues using a systematic, root-cause-driven approach.

  • Identify risks early, communicate trade-offs clearly, and drive work forward independently.

  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to documentation and technical design discussions.

  • Take accountability for production quality and post-release support.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or 3+ years of relevant professional experience.

  • Strong experience with TypeScript and modern JavaScript development.

  • Experience building production-scale applications using React.js or comparable modern frameworks.

  • Experience integrating with RESTful APIs.

  • Proven understanding of client-server architecture and distributed systems fundamentals at scale.

  • Experience with Git and modern CI/CD workflows.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a distributed team environment.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly.

  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience developing customer-facing applications.

  • Experience working in performance-sensitive or hardware-constrained environments.

  • Familiarity with telemetry, experimentation frameworks, or data-informed development.

  • Experience contributing to shared platforms or reusable component libraries.

  • Exposure to backend systems, cloud services, or scalable architectures.

What Success Looks Like

  • You independently own multiple features or modules and deliver high-quality outcomes.

  • Your code is well-tested, maintainable, and production-ready.

  • You proactively communicate risks and drive solutions.

  • You improve systems, not just complete tasks.

  • You elevate the team through collaboration, mentorship, and technical rigor.
