About Team:

Sam’s club is a membership-based retail warehouse club owned and operated by Walmart. With more than 600 physical clubs across different geographic region in US, Sam’s Club chain serves more than 50 million US members and is rated among the top retailers in US.
You will work closely with Business team to understand the requirements, drive design, architecture and influence the choice of technology to deliver solution working closely with senior architects and leadership team.
Join our young, highly energetic and dynamic team, and take part in defining the new age e-commerce and in club shopping experience. You will also have challenging opportunities to cross-collaborate with inter-disciplinary product and engineering teams to solve some of the unique challenges in multi-channel shopping experience.
 

What you'll do:

  • Operate with a start-up mentality, bringing new ideas to the table & inspiring those around you to do the same.

  • Identify areas of opportunity, determine solution designs, provide advice for system & process enhancements.

  • Effectively translate requirements into technical solutions leveraging Agile epics & stories.

  • Anticipate & manage risks & dependencies for a given functionality by mindful planning, estimation & proactive communication.

  • Help cross-functional teams to solve for business problems & develop solutions that enable us to redefine a “best-in-class” customer experience.

  • Design and implement federated GraphQL gateways and subgraphs to compose data from multiple domains into a unified API.

  • Develop and maintain schema registries, query planning, and execution logic for GraphQL-based orchestration.

  • Integrate backend services (REST, gRPC, etc.) behind GraphQL interfaces to enable modular, protocol-agnostic orchestration.

  • Ensure strong typing, schema validation, and documentation for all GraphQL APIs.

  • Collaborate with frontend and backend teams to deliver precise, performant, and secure data access patterns.

  • Implement observability, logging, and baseline alarms for orchestration services.

  • Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and contribute to best practices and documentation.

What you'll bring:

  • 3 to 6 years of overall experience, with background in software engineering.

  • Strong experience with GraphQL (preferably Apollo Federation or similar frameworks) and schema design.

  • Proficiency in building and maintaining distributed systems, micro services, or orchestration layers.

  • Experience integrating heterogeneous backend services (REST, gRPC, etc.) behind a GraphQL interface.

  • Familiarity with schema registries, query planning, and GraphQL validation best practices.

  • Strong programming skills in Node.js, TypeScript, or Java (or similar languages used for GraphQL services).

  • Experience with CI/CD, monitoring, and operational excellence for production services.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Proficiency with SQL and NoSQL.

  • Working knowledge of cloud-based application architecture, distributed systems.

  • Experience in build tools and CI/CD to automate code pipelines.

  • Experience in containerization tools like Docker, Helm, Kubernetes.

  • Experience with public cloud platforms such as Azure/GCP.

  • Exposure of using AI-powered tools that enhance efficiency in software development lifecycle

  • Understanding of secure coding practices and compliance with enterprise security standards.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
