The associate is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned:
Resolve production issues to maintain database reliability and accessibility.

Lead in the installation or upgrade of database software by designing test plans or participating in the validation of such plans.

Stay informed of new features, releases, and functionality or relevant database management software, tools, and practices.

Define and maintain the physical database and all of its associated entities including schema management and database security in accordance with internal change management procedures.

Monitor database performance as required to meet service level agreements, if defined, or ensure reasonable optimal performance for user interfaces and batch processing by tuning the database and/or suggesting application improvements.

Enforce standards to be used by all personnel as it relates to database and/or database programming including regulatory requirements and change control. Consult with Application Development and other DSS staff in the use of these standards. Provide technical assistance, recommendations and support to Application Development and I.S Operations for all database management aspects multiple database platforms.

Provide backup, ensure recoverability for databases and ensure the utmost data integrity by applying maintenance standards including the use of utility software.

Communicate with all levels of technical and non-technical personnel/management including the reporting of issues and progress to the Data Services Manager on a timely basis.

Lead small to medium sized projects independently

Participate in design reviews with the Application Development areas to ensure that database development standards, design standards and overall database technologies are being applied effectively and in accordance with policy and/or best practices

Design and author scripts or programs using to deliver automation, process improvement or shared tools.

Participate, with the ability lead, in disaster recover exercises as required. Possess a thorough understanding of disaster recovery principles, tools and facilities. Provide guidance on ways to improve, streamline and/or automate when possible.

Develop, implement, communicate and enforce standards to be used by all personnel as it relates to database and/or database programming standards, design, feature exploitation and change control. Provide technical assistance, guidance and support to Application Development, Operations and other DSS staff as it relates to these standards.

Participate in or support any regulatory inquiries including but not limited to annual Sarbanes Oxley reporting.

Education and/or Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) Computer Science or Information Services required.
• 5 years of experience in with database design and development; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Refer to the Other Skills, Abilities, and/or Training section for required technical skills according to the assigned database environment. required.
