The Staff Mechanical Design Engineer works with the cross-functional team to design, develop, test, and implement lifesaving medical devices. In this position, you will design parts and assemblies that are part of Stryker’s Neurovascular products. You will work on a variety of designs including plastic parts, metal parts, fixture design and fabrication for product & process development. The challenge is to design reliable minimally invasive medical devices and its fixtures that can work in clean room environment. You will develop design concepts, conduct feasibility studies, build, and perform evaluation testing on prototypes and perform analysis on designs.

What You Will Do:
Technical Responsibilities:
Independently research, design, develop, modify, and verify components, modules and sub-systems for medical devices.
Translate user needs to design inputs/ specifications and produce complex system-level designs with some guidance.
Conduct or design advanced prototyping and testing.
Analyze and correct complex product design issues using independent judgment.
Troubleshoot engineering design issues, develop , and propose solutions to design. Implement design changes effectively and efficiently
Med Device Compliance:
Be proficient with and mentor others in the usage of industry standards, including design requirements and test strategies per applicable regulations.
Follow and mentor others on R&D procedures like design controls and risk management, per the Quality Management System.

Work cooperatively with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing, and Project Management to ensure project success.

What You Need:
Master/bachelor’s in engineering, Mechanical Engineering
Experience in mechanical design and developments of the product / part/ assembly including CAD modeling, detailed drafting/drawing, and documentation, design of solid parts, machined parts, assemblies, plastic parts, packaging, electro-mechanical components, and accessories.
Strong technical ability in creating engineering drawings, 3D models, applying GD&T and CAE tools. Exposure to applying knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes to product/part design. Can use CAD to a high level to design 3D parametric models and assemblies using SolidWorks.
Strong technical ability to develop and optimize designs for mechanical / electro-mechanical assemblies incorporating DFM principles
Strong technical ability in creating engineering drawings, models, applying GD&T and CAE tool
Adept at applying knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes to product design
Ability to communicate moderate complexity plans and technical information to team members
5+ years of work experience in medical device designs utilizing plastics/metallic electronic, fixture design is highly desirable.
Experience in CAD simulations and segmentation experience is highly desirable.
Strong technical ability to develop and optimize designs for mechanical / electro-mechanical assemblies incorporating DFM principles
Strong technical ability in creating engineering drawings, 3D models, applying GD&T and CAE tools.
Adept at applying knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes to product design.
Ability to communicate moderate complexity plans and technical information to team members.
Experience with SolidWorks system, PTC Windchill database and ePDM is preferred.
Strong Experience with analysis tools, specifically tolerance analysis and FEA using ANSYS software preferred.
Experience in the design of ingress protection(IP) rated parts. Strong knowledge of plastic parts design, manufacturing, and testing methods.
Experience in executing new product development projects involving complete product development life cycle phases from concept to launch.
Experience in working with regulated industries like Medical Devices, Aerospace, Automotive, etc. Understanding of medical device standards and regulations is preferred.
