Sr Manufacturing Engineer – Gear Manufacturing
We are looking for a Sr Manufacturing Engineer to join our Shelby team!
As our Sr Manufacturing Engineer, you will, support to implement improve and maintain processes for gear manufacturing on commercial and military products. You will provide technical support for all gear manufacturing and inspection functions. You will also interface with design engineering in coordinating release of new product and design for manufacturing activities prior to release for production.

Your Challenge
Develops, prepares, and maintains manufacturing process routings and process sheets.
Design and implementation of fixtures and tools to support machining processes.
Work with supplier to manage sharpening and coating services for tooling.
CNC programming on shapers, hobs, gear grinders and gear skiving.
Implements and maintains work standards records, including engineering and estimation of set-up and run times for all manufacturing processes.
Develops and implements manufacturing engineering procedures.
Responsible for methods improvements of manufacturing processes to provide most economical means of production.
Provides technical support for plant layout, purchase of equipment, upgrade of equipment, feasibility studies.
Provide support to quality with the evaluation and calibration of inspection equipment.
Performs other assignments as directed by supervisor.
What You Bring
Bachelors of Science, Manufacturing Engineering preferred. Equivalent work experience and a significant gear manufacturing background will be considered.
5+ years engineering experience in gear manufacturing environment.
Must be a U.S Citizen.
Demonstrated mechanical and technical knowledge with the ability to resolve and provide technical solutions in gear manufacturing.
Experienced in Gear Nomenclature.
Ability to inspect all gear requirements and program analytical gear inspection equipment.
Working knowledge of GDT and CMM inspection methods.
CAD software knowledge, Prefer experience in Siemen’s NX CAD.
CNC programming shapers, hobs and gear grinders.
Knowledge of work holding applications and gage design.
Continuous improvement mindset and/or knowledge of Lean 6 Sigma methodologies.
MS Office Suite.
Aerospace precision component machining background preferred.
