We are currently looking for a Senior Paralegal to join our team in Franklin, TN.
Job Summary
This position provides support primarily to the Dealer Network Development and Aftersales business practice areas. Researches law, investigates facts, and prepares documents to support internal and external counsel. Provides litigation support to the affected practice areas. Maintains contact with various internal and external sources in the resolution of cases. Drafts, reviews, and edits documents, as requested.
A Day in the Life:
Operates under direct supervision of a team of senior counsel
Provides paralegal support to litigation, transactional and other matters, including managing tracking and budgeting; coordinating discovery, witnesses, and assisting outside counsel; calendaring critical court dates
Opens, maintains and closes case files using Nissan’s case management systems (Passport)
Communicates with management, internal clients, and outside third parties, including preparation of correspondence, memorandum, etc.
Receives and coordinates with outside counsel to respond to third party subpoenas
Issues litigation holds; manages, reviews and monitors litigation discovery
Assists in preparing discovery responses, affidavits, and related documents
Supports compliance with annual records retention policies
Conduit between legal counsel and business clients for securing requested dealer-related documents and information
Monitors and summarizes legislative changes to U.S. dealer protection or “franchise” laws; prepares 50-state surveys as needed
Initial review of aftersales business contracts, programs and communications
Supports legal review of dealer network development “packages” to memorialize dealer agreement changes and other market representations actions
Coordinate initial review and revision of audit, internal and other reports
Who We’re Looking for:
Job Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge and understanding of the civil litigation process and franchise laws
Ability to interact effectively with all level of management and employees
Strong management and interpersonal skills
Proven ability to organize and handle high volume of cases and related pleadings, motions and discovery
Ability to function independently within job requirements
Ability to analyze, interpret and summarize information into recommendations for attorney supervisors and management
Years of Experience:
Five or more years of professional paralegal experience from law firm or in house legal department (litigation/franchise preferred)
Education:
Bachelor’s degree and professional Certification as a paralegal from an ABA program required
Specific Course/Certifications:
Willingness to utilize computer and software programs as needed to conduct day to day activities, including artificial intelligence applications
Knowledge of and experience with online legal research (e.g., Westlaw) and e-discovery tools (Relativity)
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word. Advanced proficiency in PowerPoint strongly preferred
Notary Public Commission capabilities preferred
