Printpack is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Continuous Improvement Manager. This position is located in Rhinelander, WI and will report to the Plant Manager.

The Continuous Improvement Manager drives teams across the plant to use quality, lean, six sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies to deliver business results. Including overseeing the development, planning, and execution of strategies and metrics to track improvements. A Continuous Improvement Manager leads the plant initiatives to save costs, eliminate waste, improve customer satisfaction, and reduce product defects using a variety of continuous improvement methodologies. This role is responsible for managing and facilitating all Continuous Improvement initiatives and strategy for the plant.

A Continuous Improvement Manager needs to have knowledge and experience in the activities of continuous improvement. Such tasks as analyzing company processes and procedures, developing process enhancement strategies, investigating shortfalls, issues, and researching complaints in current business processes are inherent in performing CI and required for anyone in the CI Manager position. Having experience in CI strategies and principles of Lean and Six Sigma is critical to the Continuous Improvement Manager role.

Key Responsibilities:
1.    Process Improvement Expertise: Proficiency in Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
2.    Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data, identify inefficiencies, and develop data-driven solutions.
3.    Project Management: Strong project management skills to lead improvement initiatives from conception to implementation.
4.    Communication: Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and convey improvement strategies.
5.    Change Management: Experience in driving and managing change within an organization.
6.    Leadership: Ability to lead and inspire teams to embrace a culture of continuous improvement. This person will also have direct reports with expertise in training and process. 
7.    Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with relevant industry technologies and tools.
8.    Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills to address complex challenges.
9.    Training and Coaching: Capability to train and coach team members on continuous improvement principles.

To be successful in this role, one must be a strong mentor and coach, training others and leading the effort for continuous improvement.

  • Assessment and Analysis:
    • Conduct thorough assessments of existing processes.
    • Analyze data to identify areas for improvement.
  • Strategy Development:
    • Develop and implement continuous improvement strategies aligned with organizational goals.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure strategies meet business needs.
  • Project Implementation:
    • Lead improvement projects, applying Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
    • Monitor and report progress, ensuring timely completion.
  • Training and Development:
    • Train teams on continuous improvement principles and methodologies.
    • Provide ongoing support and coaching to foster a culture of improvement.
  • Metrics and Reporting:
    • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure improvement impact.
    • Prepare regular reports for leadership, highlighting achievements and areas for further enhancement.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Education:  Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in business administration, process management, operations, industrial engineering, engineering, or engineering management.

Experience:  3-5 years of experience in process optimization, operations, or business management.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:  Continuous Improvement Process, Kaizen, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, Advanced skills in the use of data management tools to monitor progress toward goals, certifications related to lean manufacturing.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & TRAVEL:

Physical Demands: Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch crawl, climb stairs and ladders, and work on elevated platforms. Must be willing to wear personal protective equipment including but not limited to protective eyewear, steel-toed shoes, and hearing protection. Must be able to work on the production floor at production machines when needed for process improvement events. Must be able to work on a computer and utilize tools for virtual meetings as needed.

Travel Requirements:  This associate will not be expected to travel regularly however, occasional travel to other locations is needed, typically 1-4 times per year.
