Job Description:

The Head of US Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP) will build, lead, and develop a team of finance professionals and collaborate extensively with various groups across the Bank, including: TD's product & business heads, various teams within US Treasury and TD's Finance functions. The Head of FTP team is responsible for owning TD's FTP framework, assumptions, methodology, implementation, business advisory, and strategy.  Emphasis is placed on supporting our partners through explaining: FTP methodology, trends in costs of funds, and evolving Treasury issues that impact TD's businesses. The team is also accountable to enhance our FTP through implementing a robust US FTP framework, integrated into balance sheet and net interest income forecasts, interest rate risk measurement, and a cohesive set of quantitative models and methods. The Head of FTP will act as the key point of contact with senior leaders in the business and finance and is central to keeping US Treasury well informed about Line of Business strategic activities.

Depth & Scope:

  • Provides people management leadership by hiring the best talent, setting goals, developing staff, managing employee performance and compensation decisions, promoting teamwork, and handling any/all disciplinary actions, as required
  • Improving and expanding TD's knowledge of funds transfer pricing and balance sheet management principles
  • Ensuring the complexities of Treasury are understood by the businesses in relatable, meaningful, and practical terms
  • Identifying value adding opportunities to improve NII and margins
  • Maintain and develop funds transfer pricing methodologies & assumptions
  • Evaluate new product initiatives and when required lead the implementation of new product launches for US Treasury
  • Works closely with other business partners including senior leaders within the Lines of Business
  • Leads and develops a team of finance/risk professionals to ensure best-in-class FTP processes
  • Provides active engagement to task forces and committees as needed
  • Develops relationships with stakeholders across the bank, including other Finance functions, 2nd line and 3rd line risk functions
  • Fosters a positive and rewarding working environment through R&R programs, employee engagement and continuous learning

Education & Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in finance/accounting, bank treasury or other relevant experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Math or Economics
  • Preferred designation: CPA, FRM, CFA, and/or MBA
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP) concepts and their application to banking products
  • Familiarity with the principles of interest rate risk management, including asset and liability management, (e.g. duration, convexity, key rate immunization) as well as liquidity risk management
  • Experience with relating complex financial concepts and business results in terms understandable by audiences with varied backgrounds & seniority levels
  • Proficiency with Capital markets concepts: Fair valuing securities, yield curves, financial product features: bullet and amortizing bonds, hedging with interest rate swaps, prepayment options, caps and floors
  • Demonstrated strong conceptual and analytical abilities
  • Strong internal control orientation
  • Strong understanding of and experience in implementing large scale and complex programs/projects
  • Exceptional problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, team player
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Experience with external regulators is an asset
  • Organization, prioritization, negotiation are critical
  • Proven ability to develop strong business relationships with internal and external partners
