Summary of Job Duties:

The Access Coordinator II plays a crucial role in our organization by supporting patient care activities. Their primary role is to identify and refer patients to sponsoring agencies. They also process pre-certifications and referrals and develop plans to avoid denials. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, understands insurance regulations, and works well in a team. The Access Coordinator II ensures patient access to healthcare services and efficient organizational operations.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Two (2) years of experience in patient registration, scheduling, or billing in a healthcare environment or related work

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology
  • Strong Organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Adaptable and able to thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment
  • Basic computer keyboard skills
  • General knowledge of office machines, including printers and scanners


    Additional Information:

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Provides friendly, efficient, and professional customer service to the public. Answers telephone calls in a professional and courteous manner.
    • Identify and refer patients and/or responsible parties to appropriate sponsoring agencies
    • Process high-risk pre-certifications and referrals accurately and in a timely manner
    • Collaborate with healthcare providers, patients, and agencies to ensure efficient referral processes
    • Develop and implement denial avoidance plans to minimize denials and ensure appropriate patient care
    • Maintain thorough knowledge of insurance guidelines and requirements
    • Prepare daily deposits and complete the appropriate paperwork to submit daily by deadline
