Job Title: Senior Software Engineer (Android)

Location: Bangalore

Business & Team:

Digital, Operations & Technology (DOT) is responsible for the world leading application of technology and operations across every aspect of CommBank, from innovative product platforms for our customers to essential tools within our business. We also use technology to drive simplicity and better banking, an essential component of great customer service underpinning a strong emphasis on software development as a craft and the adoption of industry best engineering practices.

You will be part of a scrum team that is building features on the CommBank mobile app that enables the Digital Banking business units to achieve their strategic objectives through planning, prioritising, delivering and supporting projects and initiatives. Your team’s success will be realised through partnering with business and IT teams across both Digital Banking business domain and Technology to deliver beautiful experiences and exceptional capabilities to our mobile app.

The role involves working in a consultative team environment implementing the results of Customer Centred Design work to create simple but effective, cohesive visual design solutions that meet the needs of a wide range of users. The role will deliver improved outcomes for our customers and our organisation through visual and intuitive experiences that lead to higher satisfaction better engagement of our customers.

Roles & Responsibilities:

The Senior Software Engineer (Android) role provides technical expertise in the design, development and delivery of quality applications. Ideally, you will have come from an enterprise Java background, with a solid understanding of how to build enterprise level applications, but you are now focussed on Android development because you are passionate about the possibilities offered by the new mobile platforms. You must have proven commercial experience delivering enterprise level applications on the Android platform, which are of a high profile and high-volume nature. Day-to-day tasks involves (but not limited to) design, development, unit testing, integration testing and continuous improvements.

Essential Skills:

• 7 to 12 Years of Industry experience.

Proven track record of developing robust and secured enterprise native Android applications with Kotlin

• An expert with Android SDK as well as keeping up to date with latest Android development practices

• Knowledge of RESTful services

• Advance knowledge in source control management such as Git and Gitflow

• Previous experience of working with Agile methodology

• Experience with CI/CD and exposure to testing automation

• Display of natural curiosity and enthusiasm about learning new languages, frameworks and tools

• Passion for delivering quality customer experience as well as writing quality code for reusability and scalability

• Exceptional sense for design with an ability to see an app through conception, development, testing and release

• Solid enterprise application architecture experience in design patterns, concurrency and performance

• Keeping up to date with latest trends in Android development with a passion to pitch to peers and senior management new ideas to turn to reality

• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills

• Mentoring/coaching junior team members.

Qualifications:

Any Graduation Degree Equivalent to Engineering.
