Responsibilities

  • Recommending, developing, and managing the database strategy to be used with the system being developed.
  • Research and apply common data base best practices and design patterns, gather, assess and translate user requirements into a logical database design.
  • Work with developers to locate and manage external APIs, create and manage validation techniques and ensure data integrity.
  • Perform disaster recovery.
  • Develop and provide common living documentation deliverables to include Entity Relationship Diagrams and Data Dictionaries.

Qualifications

Required Technical Skills:

• Familiarity with several common relational databases including SQLite and PostgreSQL
• Familiarity with common database best practices and design patterns including First Normal Form (1NF)
• Common living documentation deliverables including Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERD) and Data Dictionaries
• Understanding of layer-oriented design and the presentation layer (SQLAlchemy)
• Ability to crate manage data validation techniques to ensure data integrity
• Disaster recovery

Required Soft Skills:

• Ability to gather, assess and understand user requirements and translate them into logical database design
• Willingness to work closely with developers to locate and manage data and develop external APIs
