Job Description:

Summary:

The person in this position will work with project teams to provide computer-aided drafting expertise, primarily using AutoCAD and Revit software. Typical duties may include data collection, planning, and problem-solving related to structural design. Project work will include drafting design of foundations and supports, steel framing, access platforms, stacks, pumping and piping systems, industrial equipment, conveyor systems, and various details. These activities will be related to the design of two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) modeling. Drawings will be completed using AutoCAD and/or Revit software. Occasional assistance with mechanical, electrical, or civil design may also be required. All applicants should include transcripts with their application.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Pursuing an AA or AS degree, or related technical certificate, in CAD technology or related field

  • At least one full-time semester remaining after internship

  • Strong technical and problem-solving skills

  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness

  • Proficiency using current versions of AutoCAD

  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with project team members, structural engineers, and CAD and design staff

  • Ability to follow safety procedures and work in a safe manner

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the future

  • Possession of a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with 3D software such as Revit, CADWorx, Solidworks, etc.

  • Familiarity with work on a variety of structural systems, including structural steel and reinforced concrete

  • Experience with drafting and design in other engineering disciplines, such as mechanical, civil, or electrical

A hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position is based out of Barr’s Hibbing, Minnesota, office.

NOTE: Some work locations may feature rough terrain typical of construction sites and may also require entering and working in facilities that include limited accessibility, moving machinery, and other conditions typical of industrial facilities. Safety training will be provided. Applicants may be asked to participate in a drug screening program at the request of specific clients.
