As a Technical Writer at Branch, you’ll utilize your technical expertise to improve our documentation with a large focus on enabling development teams utilize the Branch platform to its full potential. Our documentation is essential to the developer experience, and usability & efficiency is at the top of our priority.

We are seeking someone with a strong technical foundation in mobile SDKs and APIs, an empathetic end-user mindset, and a sense of curiosity to understand the product. You’ll work closely with product/engineering teams, subject matter experts, and broader GTM teams to fully understand the needs of proper documentation. Branch’s documentation site includes user guides, developer docs, FAQs, and partner docs. As a Technical Writer, you’ll own all relevant documentation within your domain of expertise.

As a Technical Writer, you’ll get to:

  • Develop methodology and processes to maintain a clear and consistent writing style and voice across all documentation.
  • Partner with Product Managers, Engineers, and Marketers, to ensure new products are documented in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with GTM team members to ensure that documentation fits within Branch’s larger ecosystem of educational offerings.
  • Review and document SDK and API code samples, recipes, user guides, and tutorials.
  • Define and track documentation quality metrics and use them to help prioritize work.

You’ll be a good fit if you have:

  • Full English proficiency in written and verbal communication with writing samples to share.
  • 4+ years as a technical writer focused on product or engineering documentation.
  • 2+ years of API and SDK documentation experience.
  • Familiarity with mobile development Android and iOS.
  • The ability to understand and explain complex systems from the developer user perspective.
  • The ability to find and identify typos and grammar mistakes.
  • Experience with Github and Markdown.

This role will be based at our Austin, TX office and follows a Hybrid schedule that will be aligned with our Return to Office guidelines. However, we are also open to full-time remote candidates. This role does not qualify for relocation or visa sponsorship.

In accordance with applicable law, the following represents a reasonable estimated compensation range for this role: the estimated pay range for this role, if based in Austin, TX, is $116,000 to $130,000. 

Please note that this information is provided for those hired in Austin, TX only. Compensation for candidates outside of Austin, TX will be based on the candidate’s specific work location. 

Actual compensation will be determined based on skills, experience, and geographic location and may be more or less than the amount shown above.

The salary range provided represents base compensation and does not include potential equity, which is available for qualifying positions.
