As an IT Data Storage & Resilience Engineer at Micron, you will be part of a dynamic group of Administrators who are directly responsible for production storage across our landscape. You will be in charge of implementing new systems and providing support for existing systems across Micron. Additionally, you will handle customer and partner concerns related to global storage.

You will work regularly with Micron’s Business Units to ensure solutions meet or exceed business requirements. You will be encouraged to suggest, promote, and leverage published standards to minimize environment complexity and ensure regulatory as well as license compliance. You will have the opportunity to travel to other Micron sites as well as technology conferences and trainings.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Define, design, engineer and implement storage hardware and solutions.

  • Define, in conjunction with other support groups and service providers, functionality required to support business strategies.

  • Design, and implementation of backup and data resiliency solutions using modern platforms such as Rubrik, Cohesity, and other relevant technologies.

  • Optimize data protection workflows to ensure highly available, secure, and scalable backup infrastructures.

  • Maintain technical and service domain subject matter knowledge to provide feedback on future roadmap decisions.

  • Work with customers to capture requirements, and propose, engineer, and provision storage and backup solutions.

  • Research and partner with vendors and management to select products that best meet company needs.

  • Lead system setup and standardization of features and usage.

  • Build detailed documents, testing, training, and post-deployment assessments.

  • Follow the established process for any planned maintenance or when potential issues arise.

  • Deliver training for new team members.

  • Lead all aspects of data backup operations, ensuring all data is backed up efficiently and can be restored promptly in case of a disaster.

  • Establish and manage recovery objectives (RPO/RTO) to meet business continuity requirements.

  • Coordinate vendor-specific support and problem resolution.

  • Adhere to Micron’s established processes, security policies, and managed services.

  • Provide 24x7 On-Call technical support and expertise for customer issues and service provider partner concern.

  • Establish and implement policies, procedures, and standards, and ensure conformance.

  • Collect, supervise, report, and interpret operating metrics.

  • Propose and implement storage and backup system improvements (software and hardware updates) that will improve the performance and reliability of Micron’s IT environment.

  • Identify service improvement opportunities.

  • Plan and implement strategies for minimizing service outages, and for reducing the impact of such outages on business operations (i.e., availability, contingency, and disaster planning).

  • Benchmark standard methodologies where appropriate.

  • Regularly test and validate data recovery processes, ensuring that backup data is reliable and accessible.

  • Collaborate with diverse teams, including security, infrastructure, and application teams, to ensure backup solutions align with overall business needs and security policies.

  • Regularly assess and propose strategies to accommodate the growing backup environment as data volume increases.

  • Support acquisition, installation, maintenance, and administration of large enterprise SAN, NAS & enterprise Backup environment.

  • Test, perform root cause analysis and identify storage related problems

  • Plan, coordinate and upgrade components of the SAN/NAS/TSM as needed with software, hardware and microcode upgrades, etc.

  • Implement monitoring and reporting tools to provide access to backup health, awareness of ransomware risks, and insight into system performance.

  • Ensure all modifications to systems are detailed and accurately implemented with approval (System Updates)

  • Review the performance of systems and plan for technological refresh and cater for future expansion (Capacity Management)

  • Give to Business Continuity Planning and DR strategy, which involves outlining DR procedures and conducting DR drills.

  • Maintain and review the DR documents on a regular basis.

Education and experience:

  • We welcome applicants with a Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering or Information Technology or equivalent experience

  • 5 years working in storage
