  • Be a part of a founding team that will help shape the future of our products and company.

  • Work on cutting-edge technologies and innovative projects.

  • Collaborate with a passionate and talented team.

Let’s introduce ourselves.

We’re a venture-scaler powered by CommBank. That means we build, buy, and invest in startups that could benefit the bank’s 15 million customers and beyond.

Because of what we do, we’re really neither corporate, nor startup – instead we’re happily navigating the space between both worlds. We're close enough to benefit from the bank’s strategy, scale and stability, but separate enough that we have the autonomy to try new things.

What it’s like to work here

We’re a community of galvanisers, thinkers, and doers. People from different backgrounds who come together in a brilliant collision of careers, ideas, and expertise. We know what we’re trying to achieve isn’t easy, but we're up for the challenge and we never lose sight of the impact we can have on people’s lives, and the role that each of us plays in shaping the bank of the future.

At x15 we’re guided by three values: care, courage, and commitment.  We’re aware, attuned, and always act to help others. We’re more than just job titles and we don’t hide the human stuff, either.  We lead with grit and grace. We have a big bold vision, which so far no-one has nailed (including us). That excites, rather than deters us.

And whatever happens, we always find a way. We're tenacious, resilient and we do what's right – even if it's hard.

Where would you fit?

x15 are actively building our venture pipeline, with a renewed focus on rapid test & learn. We are standing up a Proof of Concept (POC) Squad to drive fast and low-cost opportunity development that will advance early concept proof points. This team's work will focus on novel & innovative ideas, where the POC delivers real value at the end and helps inform clear next business step (e.g. stop, stand up a venture, partner).

The POC Squad will be in x15's Portfolio function, alongside the Investments Team and Growth Team.

Role Overview:

We are looking for experienced Full Stack Engineers to drive the end-to-end design and implementation of early-stage product ideas. The engineers should be hands-on, team first individuals who are comfortable both writing code, and engaging in broader product and business decisions. You will help balance speed to insights versus architecture that can scale as conviction and learnings build.

You'll need to love the high ambiguity and enjoy solving the hard stuff where a playbook might not (yet!) exist. Got your attention?

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the founding team to conceptualize and design innovative products.

  • Develop high-quality software solutions from scratch, ensuring scalability and performance.

  • Participate in architectural discussions and decision-making processes.

  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code.

  • Conduct thorough testing and debugging of applications to ensure performance.

  • Work closely with designers to implement UI/UX designs.

  • Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.

  • Continuously learn and apply new technologies to enhance development processes.

  • Contribute to shaping the company's technical culture and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in software development.

  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as JavaScript, Typescript

  • Experience with front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Nextjs, Vue) and back-end technologies (e.g., Node.js, APIs)

  • Strong understanding of software development principles and design patterns.

  • Experience with database management systems (e.g. Postgres).

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and DevOps practices.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

Why Join Us:

  • Enjoy a flexible and dynamic startup environment.

  • Competitive salary.

  • Opportunities for professional growth and development.
