Job Summary

As the System Manager of IT Engineering and Technical Services at Endeavor Health, you will be responsible for leading the development, testing, configuration, optimization, and implementation services of solutions specific to areas of responsibility. In this role, you will be responsible for the full life cycle management, from strategic planning, development, and maintenance to the launch of solutions and platforms. You will be responsible for identifying opportunities with the goal of reducing manual efforts, contributing to growth of the organization, promotion of patient and user experience and creating innovative solutions with operations. You will be developing and fostering strong working relationships with key stakeholders to align technology solutions to the goals of the system. Additionally, you will be responsible for promoting the consistent use of available tools, techniques, workflows, and platforms.

To be successful in this role, you will be expected to remain updated on the latest solutions and technologies and advocate for the adoption of industry best practices.

What you will do:

  • Drives end-to-end activities for the assigned solutions portfolio and developing and leading teams for high performance outcomes.

  • Provides support and guidance for solution implementation including planning, technical setup, building, testing, training, deployment, optimizing, and support.

  • Establishes relationships with domain leaders to understand strategic business needs and user needs; identifies business requirements to guide specifications for ease of business operations.

  • Lead or participate in governance committees to collaborate with key stakeholders about priority and workload.

  • Develops strong partnerships with other fellow leaders to identify synergies and opportunities for improvement.

  • Collaborates with vendors to ensure systems and solutions are achieving or exceeding the needs of Endeavor Health.

  • Contributes to activities such as: Capital and Operating budgets, policy and procedure development and adherence, talent management and acquisition, governance activities, and other duties as assigned.

  • Remains updated on latest technologies available in the market and promotes the implementation of relevant technologies. Participates in industry related organizations, such as HIMSS, CHIME, Epic UGM / XGM, VMWare World, as appropriate.

  • Collaborate and actively participate across functional components led by other leaders, ensuring overlaps and touch points are seamless, effective, efficient and achieve measurable outcomes.

  • Provides technical knowledge and enablement to teams within their area of technical responsibility related to the software, system, platform or infrastructure that is owned. 

  • Collaborates with leadership on analysis of technical requirements throughout Endeavor and IT, including requirements analysis, product evaluations, recommendations for system selection, vendor selection, negotiation, architecture, design, implementation, enhancements and on-going support.

  • Ensures that technology is kept within supported versions and consistent to meeting the demands of the Enterprise, inclusive of performance and scalability requirements as well as high availability.

  • Ensures the team adopts and adheres to rigorous Change, Incident, Release and Problem Management (ITIL) methodologies in the support and maintenance of systems, platforms or infrastructure

  • Derives effective monitoring and support schedules to ensure 24/7 operations and support of all responsible systems, platforms or infrastructure.

  • Generates and presents reports to Management regarding effectiveness of infrastructure and makes recommendations for the adoption of new technologies, processes and procedures.

  • Possess knowledge of expense and resource management processes as defined within Endeavor, inclusive of capital expenditures and budgeting.

  • Identifies the appropriate level of resource for a project and understands how resources translate into cost, and perform reconciliation of actual versus project plan estimates. 

  • Uses past experience in engineering/operations to work with team members to identify risks and issues as well as implement appropriate technical resolutions.  

  • Manages the completion of assignments related to the technology strategy, on-going maintenance, expansion or upgrade of assigned software, systems, platforms, infrastructure and devices within Endeavor.

  • Manages day to day work of employees by monitoring budgets, expenses and scope and facilitating project delivery and support for complex projects of critical importance.

  • Works closely with decision makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the organization. 

  • Responsible for managing people assigned to technical project(s) involving department or cross-functional teams focused on the delivery of a server, network, software, system, platform or infrastructure through the design process and into a finished operational state for internal or external customers, inclusive of ensuring on-going operational readiness.

  • Provides project oversight for a technical project and communicates with respective leads and clients throughout the process, managing issues and escalation where appropriate.

  • Anticipates issues and develops preventive measures, wherever feasible.

  • Delivers communication without requiring support and instruction from others.

  • Provides project oversight for a large or complex projects and communicates with all stakeholders during the process.

  • Forecasts resource needs, identify and break work down into discrete and measurable tasks, set priorities, define dependencies, schedule activities, prepare acceptance criteria and organize work for one or more large projects

  • Develops technical project estimates and costs appropriate for each stage of a project.

  • Responsible for managing people assigned to technical project(s) focused on the delivery of a server, platform, software, system or infrastructure through the selection and design process and into a finished state for internal or external customers, inclusive of ensuring on-going operational readiness.

  • Escalates issues or roadblocks in execution or meeting milestones in a consistent and timely manner to Management.

What you will need:

Minimum Education Level

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

Level of Education Preferred

  • Master’s degree in computer science, or information systems.

Minimum Licensure Requirements

  • Licenses specific to portfolio of responsibility – desired, but not required.  This includes specific technical platforms contained within their specific span of responsibility.

Minimum Certification Requirements

  • Certifications specific to portfolio of responsibility desired, but not required, as it relates to the infrastructure, software, platforms or systems.

Minimum Work Experience

  • Three (3) or more years of experience in managing processes, applications, or systems in a healthcare setting or relevant related industries.
  • Two (2) or more years of leadership experience as defined as essential to the role.

Minimum Work Experience Preferred

  • Five (5) or more years of experience in managing processes, applications, or systems in an integrated healthcare delivery system or relevant related industries.
  • Three (3) or more years of leadership experience.  Experience using portfolio of responsibility.
