Job Description

Looking for an opportunity to play a key role in workforce development for the clean energy economy? Would you like to work with a supportive and dynamic team who thinks outside the box to meet the workforce training demands of the manufacturing industry? Want to work with local companies, large and small, to train their new and incumbent workers? Then this tenure-track position at Truckee Meadows Community College is for you! We are seeking student-centered, enthusiastic, creative, diligent, Tenure Track Advanced Manufacturing Instructors to teach courses in mechanical, electrical, pneumatics, programming, automation and robotics. The majority of courses are taught in the lab at our William N. Pennington Center of Applied Technology at 475 Edison Way, with additional courses taught at the new PENA Advanced Manufacturing Training Center at 645 Plumb Lane.  We also offer online courses. We are seeking applicants from all backgrounds and life experiences and looking for transferable skills sets that are applicable to this role. Minimum Qualifications

1. Associates Degree in Advanced Manufacturing, Industrial Technology or closely related field from an accredited institution.*

2. Six months working in an advanced manufacturing training or industrial environment. Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers.

3. Familiarity with industrial robots

*Degree may be substituted with equivalent academic preparation / certification and an additional two years of professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in Industrial Systems, Advanced Manufacturing, Robotics or closely related technical field from an accredited institution.

2. Two years of teaching experience in industrial technologies, or closely related fields at the secondary or post-secondary level or training experience in a related environment.

3. Professional experience in manufacturing, or related technical fields. Experience with industrial measuring equipment.

4. Experience with a learning management system and/ or online learning.

Academic Responsibilities

Candidates must exhibit an appreciation of, a sensitivity to, and respect for a

diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological and ethnic backgrounds.Teaching and workload assignments are scheduled throughout the calendar year, and may require evening and weekend obligations at one or more college locations.

  • Teach a minimum of 30 credits per year (15 per semester), August through May.

  • Teach courses as assigned to meet student needs which may include in-person, online, and hybrid modalities and at the Edison campus or alternate sites.

  • Demonstrate awareness of diversity, equity, and inclusion issues. Maintain sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, as well as disabilities, of students, faculty, and staff.

  • Support student learning outcomes assessment processes by teaching toward approved student learning outcomes and assessing student performance.

  • Assist with curriculum review, revision and creation and aid in the development of new course materials and innovative instructional techniques that promote student learning and retain students to completion.

  • Collaborate with department peers and administrators to improve teaching effectiveness and serve as an active contributing member of the department.

  • Maintain and set up the equipment for assigned lab classes; promptly report any broken equipment to the administration.

  • Mentor new part-time faculty.

  • Participate in department activities such as advisory boards, industry partner visits, program review, inventory, and outreach events.

  • Attend and actively participate in College events, department and division meetings, college or Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) committees, and community service activities.

  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current in the field.

  • Complete training outlined in TMCC’s Faculty Standards of Online Instruction, when and as needed.

  • Hold 5 office hours per week.

  • Participate in student advising, recruitment, and retention efforts.

  • Travel occasionally to community and workforce sites, conferences,  and events as needed.

  • Communicate and interact in a professional, timely and collegial manner with faculty, students, staff and administration.

  • Comply with departmental administrative responsibilities and published college and NSHE policies and procedures.

  • Uphold the Mission, Vision, and Values of TMCC and perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with them.

  • Adhere to the published codes of NSHE as detailed in the Board of Regents Handbook.

  • Adhere to the Code of Ethical Standards of the State of Nevada (Nevada Revised Statutes 281A.400-281A.480).

  • Other duties as assigned

Salary and Benefits Information:

Salary: Initial salary placement will be dependent on education level and years of experience. This position is a 9-month role, totaling 172 working days per year. Opportunities to teach up to 6 additional credits per semester may be available, depending on course offerings. The salaries listed below are based on this schedule, paid over 12 months:

Associate’s- $54,180-$65,016

Bachelor’s- $63,987- $76,784

Master’s- $67,097- $80,516

Master’s + 30- $70,207- $84,248

Ph.D- $76,066- $91,279
