The Ops Sup Sr. Manager is a senior management level position responsible for accomplishing results through the management of a team or department in an effort to provide operations support services in coordination with the Operations - Core team. The overall objective of this role is to ensure the seamless delivery of operations support services in alignment with Citi operations support infrastructure and processes.

The Risk & Control Lead is a specialist who supports the Country Legacy Franchises Risk and Control in managing and mitigating operational & compliance risks.

The incumbent will provide effective operational risk management oversight and support which is essential to ensuring appropriate evaluation, mitigation, and communication of operational risks, the identification and driving of corrective actions, and ensuring that root causes and themes are addressed to avoid recurrence of issues and support a robust control environment. 

The incumbent will work closely with various stakeholders including LF Operations, LF Technology, Legal, ICRM, ORM, Third Party Management, Regional LF Risk & Controls to provide objective views on risks, controls, and trends.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage professional teams and departments through delegation of tasks and responsibilities
  • Conduct performance evaluations, compensations, hiring, disciplinary actions, and terminations of team members as well as maintain appropriate staffing requirements
  • Monitor the team’s quality and efficiency of end results and manage all training and development needs of assigned personnel
  • Create and develop budget, policy formation and short-term resource planning
  • Manage occasionally complex and varied issues with significant departmental impact
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of how areas integrate within the sub function as well as coordinate and contribute to the goals of the entire function
  • Provide evaluative judgment based on analysis of information in complicated and unique situations
  • Ensure essential procedures are followed and contribute to the defining standards
  • Has the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision.
  • Can exercise independence of judgement and autonomy.
  • Acts as SME to senior stakeholders and /or other team members.
  • Ability to manage teams. 
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

End-to-end Process Mapping (Including Third Parties and Inter-affiliate)- Work with stakeholders supporting LF to map and document processes including those that tie into third parties (external and internal). Use the process maps to support the identification of risks and incorporating appropriate controls to ensure compliance with process and control requirements.

Risk Identification, Analysis, and Management and Reporting- including Reporting to Country BRCC and other relevant country and regional risk & control forums on Risk & Control as well as governance activities.

Issue Escalation and Socialization- Establish an effective process to escalate and socialize material risk events and issues with country and regional management in line with the Asia Issue Escalation and Notification Guideline issued. This would include maintaining escalations register, involvement in post transition activities, and lead and support root cause analysis, trending, and lessons learned.

End-to-end Regulatory Compliance Process Review- Review the robustness of the end-to-end regulatory compliance process in partnership with Country Compliance including the receipt and interpretation of rules and regulations as applicable, their documentation in the Compliance Regulatory Control Matrix (RCM), the mapping from the Compliance RCM to the MCA, and the testing of rules and regulations.

Manager’s Control Assessment (MCA) Coordination – including Annual Risk Assessments, Quarterly Risk Assessments, Continuous Risk Monitoring, identification of appropriate ARCM content to ensure risk profile represents the key risks faced by the country divestiture / LF construct, initiating, and accepting internal dependencies, interfacing with ORM on challenges, etc

Issue and Corrective Action Plan (CAP) Process Oversight, Coordination And Validation – Including overseeing the management of issues and CAP lifecycle as required for the Divestiture construct, managing Risk Exceptions and ensure timely renewals, as required.

Audits, Franchise Reviews and Regulatory Examination Management- Support the country LF operations on relevant reviews and audits from the 2nd and 3rd LODs and regulators. Support the LF Operations teams on reviewing and responding to findings issued by reviewers.

Training and Awareness- Perform training for country LF Operations staff on risk and control concepts, processes, tools, and on effective issue self-identification and testing. Create Permanent Control Readiness.

Qualifications:

  • 10-15 years in the Financial Services industry
  • Minimum three years in an Internal Audit, Risk Management, or Control Management-related role
  • Strong understanding of Consumer Operations and Risk & Controls.
  • Ability to lead and drive controls across stakeholders irrespective of reporting lines
  • Ability to manage through influence (e.g. management in the absence of reporting lines or with matrix reporting)
  • Ability to build rapport and work closely with key country and regional stakeholders and partners within and outside the country Consumer business
  • Up-to-date understanding of key risk and control concepts, tools and trends relating to risk identification, rating and prioritization, mitigation, and reporting, Operational Loss treatment.
  • Ability to assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
  • Master’s degree preferred
