Deckhand
The deckhand will ensure the safe operation of all deck work and be part of the deck crew in line with statutory and regulatory guidelines as required by the Company, MCA, Workboat Code and other external bodies.
Key areas of responsibility include:
• Assist with Planned Maintenance onboard. Carry out ship’s husbandry and Health & Safety checks onboard the vessel, rectifying and/or reporting faults as required.
• Working under guidelines as required by the Master
• To take ownership of his vessel and take an active role in all safety aspects.
• To carry out all duties, including inter-departmental duties involving both deck and engine roles, and those reasonably assigned from time to time, in a professional, responsible and adaptable manner, with flexibility of operation as required in order to fulfil the current manning and vessel operational requirements.
• To undertake mandatory training as required both for company requirements and for individual continued professional development.
Qualifications and Experience:
ML5 or ENG1 Medical Certificate (Essential)
Personal Survival Techniques
Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting
Elementary First Aid
Forklift License (Desirable)
HIAB (NPORS or equivalent) Operator (Desirable)
Experience of workboats and/or relevant maritime experience desirable.
Candidates need to be located near to the port and hold a current UK driving licence. You must have the right to work in the UK.
