This cross-functional position leads the support efforts of product safety and compliance by executing tasks necessary to ensure component, and furniture regulatory compliance. This includes following procedures to request, evaluate, validate, and verify product compliance to Federal, state, and international furniture regulations and standards. Compliance Analyst documents testing details and results, addresses non-compliance issues that arise from third-party test results and communicates with the appropriate stakeholders as necessary to continually improve the compliance efforts within La-Z-Boy.
Job Description:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages all chemical and flammability compliance, testing, reporting for La-Z-Boy branded product
- Properly evaluates and records testing from nationally recognized test labs (NRTL) for purchased parts and manufactured products as required.
- Maintains database of test results, certifications, and other compliance documentation for purchased parts and manufactured products.
- Assists in resolutions to issues related to non-compliant parts and products
- Ensures ongoing compliance to relevant federal and state regulations, such as FTC, EPA, CPSC, CA Prop 65, state law label and bedding licenses, etc.
- Works closely with Sourcing, Engineering, ESG, test lab, and International teams to ensure regulatory requirements are met and documented.
- Establishes and maintains competency of all related industry and internal test standards applicable to products of the Company’s Incorporated and its subsidiaries. This includes maintaining an understanding of all internal standard operating procedures.
- Monitors state and federal regulatory entities, publications and legislations and communicates updates and changes to stakeholders.
- Communicates with internal and external stakeholders on customer regulatory requirements.
- Completes Correct and Preventative Action forms to address non-compliance reports.
SCOPE & IMPACT:
Communicates objectives, updates, compliance topics and other relative information to stakeholders in effort to continue to improve the safety and compliance of purchased and manufactured products provided to and by La-Z-Boy and its subsidiaries.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or GED with 2-4 years of relevant experience or equivalent
- Proficient in Microsoft applications (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook & Project),
- Education or experience with engineering, product safety, U.S./International furniture regulations.
- Strong written and verbal skills
- Trained in auditing to ISO 17025
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- 4+ years direct experience in a specific field of furniture safety or compliance
- Significant experience in more than one field of furniture safety, compliance, stewardship, and/or testing.
- Familiarity with furniture construction, textiles, or small electronic products.
- Experience working with Sourcing, Procurement, Quality, Engineering and/or Product Safety and Compliance

Often required to sit, repetitive hand motion (such as typing), hear, listen, talk, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, squat, balance, reach overhead, crawl, pill, push and lift – up to 50 pounds. Seldom required to climb stairs, climb ladders or Lift up to 75 pounds. Not required to shovel.
