The candidate for this position will be based out of Hawaii and will assist with on-site permitting compliance on construction and operational renewable assets in the State of Hawaii. The candidate should be able to collaborate and communicate effectively in a team environment, take direction and complete tasks in a thorough and efficient manner.  The candidate must be able to work independently and be self-driven to accomplish goals and objectives, while maintaining oversight of potentially several construction and operational projects at a time.  

RESPONSIBILITIES

This individual will be responsible for overseeing the onsite compliance of construction during the construction phase of solar projects.  Responsibilities include: 

  • Assist in developing and implementing compliance programs related to each project’s acquired permits encompassing all local, state and federal requirements.
  • Assist with managing and implementing all site plans, specifications, technical reports, tests and deliverables related to construction on projects.
  • Working closely with onsite construction managers, compliance managers and execution team to provide technical assistance and find solutions for in-field concerns. 
  • Reviewing costs, invoicing, work plans, and execution strategies with compliance manager and execution teams.
  • Assist with recordkeeping of meetings, data management, filings and document management, quality, and assurance.
  • Representing AES in regulatory meetings, inspections, and coordination.
  • Assist with presentations to teams and develop training materials and documents.
  • Provide support to broader local development, execution and O&M teams.
  • Provide support to the health and safety teams.

EXPERIENCE & ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS

  • At least 1 year of construction experience including multidisciplinary aspects such as geotechnical, structural, mechanical, and rehabilitation.
  • Understand and comply with federal, state, and local environmental regulatory agency laws, regulations, and permitting requirements pertaining to civil/engineering requirements.
  • Knowledge of Erosion and Sediment Control and Stormwater regulations and HI law, NEPA, USACE, CWA, DOT, SPCC and Waste management, water quality, construction / industrial / municipal stormwater, air quality, T&E species, USFW, and Historical Resources.
  • Demonstrated field experience and/or bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in Construction Management, Engineering, Environmental Science, or other related field;
  • Experience in working collaboratively with diverse project teams on high-pressure, fast pace, high-visibility projects.
  • Competency in MS Office software, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as geospatial mapping software.

POSITION CONDITIONS

• This position is performed in a primarily field environment.

• Ability to lift up to 25lbs.

• 50% of time may be dedicated to field activities in varying environmental conditions including inclement weather and steep grades.

• Some night and weekend work may be required for this position.

• Involves travel within the State of Hawaii

The expected salary for this position, at commencement of employment, is between $65,000 and $80,750/Annual; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements such as annual bonus, in addition to a full range of medical, dental, vision, life, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if a candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
