THE ROLE

The Staff Revenue Accountant will play a crucial role in supporting the company's subscription-based and point-in-time revenue streams. Reporting to the Revenue Controller, you will be responsible for day-to-day revenue accounting tasks, month-end close processes, internal reporting and process improvements. This is an entry-level position within our accounting team, offering multiple avenues for growth as you develop your expertise within the accounting function.

This role involves working closely with the finance team and other departments to support the recording, reporting, and analysis of revenue transactions. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of US GAAP, particularly revenue recognition principles, and will be detail-oriented, analytical, and proficient in accounting software.

Key Responsibilities:

Revenue Recognition:
• Perform daily revenue accounting tasks, including recording of revenue transactions in compliance with ASC 606, ensuring accurate and timely revenue recognition.
• Review and interpret customer contracts to ensure compliance with ASC 606, proactively identifying and addressing any potential revenue recognition issues.
• Prepare and analyze deferred revenue and revenue accruals.
• Assist in the development and implementation of revenue recognition policies and procedures.

Month-End Close:
• Participate in the month-end close process, ensuring all revenue-related journal entries are accurately recorded.
• Reconcile revenue accounts and ensure that all discrepancies are resolved in a timely manner.
• Prepare and maintain supporting documentation for all revenue-related transactions.

Internal Reporting:
• Assist in the preparation of revenue-related financial reports and statements.
• Provide analysis and insights on revenue trends, variances, and key metrics.
• Support the annual external audit related to revenue by providing related documentation and explanations.

Collaboration & Communication:
• Collaborate with sales, billing, and customer service teams to ensure seamless and accurate recognition of revenue.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including legal and sales, to provide revenue guidance and support during contract negotiations.
• Communicate with customers and vendors as needed to resolve any revenue-related issues.

Process Improvement:
• Identify and implement opportunities to enhance revenue accounting processes, supporting the company’s rapid growth and evolving business needs.
• Assist in the implementation of new accounting standards and systems related to revenue recognition.
• Participate in special projects and initiatives as applicable.


THE PERSON

• Experience: 1-3+ years of accounting experience, with a focus on revenue recognition in a high-growth tech environment preferred.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Progress toward CPA preferred.
• Skills: Proficiency with NetSuite and advanced Excel skills. Strong understanding of US GAAP and revenue recognition principles.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
