SPM Oil & Gas, A Caterpillar Company, headquartered near Fort Worth, Texas, produces a full line of pumps, flow iron, consumable parts, wellhead and pressure control products that are offered via an extensive global network of service centers. As an Accountant, you will be part of the legal entity general ledger team for SPM Oil & Gas supporting multiple entities located across North America.  This role will primarily be working closely with AR and AP to facilitate weekly bank reconciliations, prepare and post journal entries, complete high volume of general ledger reconciliations in accordance with policy, and perform functions related to month end close.  This role will also assist with intercompany balance research and resolving variances.  This role will perform continued system and process improvements in the areas of responsibility to ensure deadlines are met with attention to accuracy.  Additionally, ad hoc project work will be assigned which currently includes cash flow projections and Blackline system optimization, however, this can change and include other areas as needed.

What You Will Do:

  • Maintain financial records in accordance with GAAP and organizational standards.
  • Take part in special projects and ad hoc reporting requests.
  • Maintain, implement, and adhere to internal controls while ensuring that accounting procedures comply with GAAP.
  • Prepare and post journal entries accurately with appropriate supporting documentation.
  • Complete account reconciliations in accordance with policies and procedures and resolve any issues in a timely manner.
  • Assist with month end and year end close for ERP system and other non-ERP close functions.

What You Have:

  • Education/Experience:  The position typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent/experience. 
  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.
  • Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.
  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Accounting: Knowledge of accounting methods, processes, and tools; ability to maintain and prepare financial statements and reports using accounting methods and processes.
