The Associate Director of Strategy development: Benchmark Advocacy will focus on benchmark advocacy in metals and agriculture sectors across strategic markets.

In this highly collaborative role, Associate Director of Strategy development will lead the dialogue with S&P Global Commodity Insights’ customers to drive adoption and wide use of Platts benchmarks across customer workflows. The role will closely partner with pricing teams, wider CI content teams, and commercial teams to effectively position and embed Platts benchmarks.

The Team:

A successful candidate will work with highly motivated and results-driven senior members of the Commercial Strategy team, whose diverse expertise and focus areas will provide the candidate abundant opportunities to collaborate and learn.

Responsibilities and Impact:

  • In collaboration with regional commercial leadership, develop commercial strategy to drive growth and successful commercial outcomes for Commodity Insights’ portfolio
  • Effectively strengthen established benchmarks standing and drive adoption of emerging benchmarks, together with the extensive Market Insights offering
  • Partnering with Commodity Insights’ customers, understand relevant workflows and use-cases for appropriate Platts benchmarks, support existing and evolving customer needs  
  • Develop strong relationships across markets, engage with strategic entities, support partnerships, tenders, RFPs, and other relevant activities that help embed Commodity Insights offering into customer workflows and drive key institutional usage
  • Ensure market opportunities are appropriately addressed by leveraging Commodity Insights’ combined expertise and wide capabilities
  • Support relevant cross functional initiatives and act an execution lead on relevant strategic projects
  • A successful candidate will shape the development of commercial strategy in supporting the core of Commodity Insights’ businesses. Through thoughtful and sophisticated engagements with key external stakeholders, the candidate strengthens and improve our benchmark standing; Internally, the candidate is a valuable resource for different Commercial teams, and shares customer insights with the aim to improve our work.

What We’re Looking For:

Basic required Qualifications:

  • Expert knowledge of commodity sectors, market segments, and usage of price benchmarks
  • Strategic mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving skills anchored by a willingness to learn and collaborate
  • Strong commercial acumen and negotiating skills with solid track record in engaging various parties, including the most senior internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent communication, diplomacy and influencing skills, ability to partner across teams and functions

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Self-starter and fast learner
  • Habit to reflect and improve quality and efficiency of work
  • One or more Asian language proficiency
  • Capability to work with diverse datasets and models, strong data visualization and presentation skills
