We are one of The Times’ Top 50 Employers for Women, a Working Families top 30 employer, recognised by Stonewall as the leading employer for LGBTQ+ inclusion, and by the Social Mobility Employer Index as a top employer for advancing social mobility.

Linklaters’ UK Antitrust & Foreign Investment Group (AFIG) is a Band 1 practice, recognised for its expertise and repeated involvement in the highest profile and most complex competition cases ranging from strategic merger control to cutting-edge behavioural and regulatory investigations.

Our 41-lawyer team in London is led by six partners and draws on support from our global team comprising 155 lawyers and 31 partners, further strengthened by strategic alliances with top firms in Africa, South-East Asia, and Australia.

In this role, you would be one of a team of three knowledge lawyers (one Counsel, one Associate), which forms a core part of the London AFIG practice. The team also supports the global AFIG practice, working closely together with knowledge lawyers in Brussels, Paris and Dusseldorf.

About you

You will have at least six years’ experience as a fee-earner or as a PSL at a reputable competition law practice. Experience working on UK competition law matters is essential.

It would also be helpful if you have experience developing knowhow and delivering training with clarity and at a level matched to that of the audience.

In addition, you will have:

  • Excellent technical skills, including drafting and legal analysis.

  • An ability to follow and synthesize legal and regulatory developments and issues.

  • An ability to develop knowhow and training of practical and commercial application.

  • Strong organisational and project management skills, including the ability to manage time effectively and to prioritise.

  • An ability to work as part of a team, sharing responsibilities with team members in a cross-border team, ensuring a seamless service for the practice.

  • A flexible, proactive approach with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to apply law and regulation in a practical way to “real-life” scenarios.

  • Interest in the science behind learning and knowledge engagement, knowhow systems, technology and application along with an enthusiasm for competition law and knowledge management.

Your role

You will work closely with the global competition knowhow team to support fee-earners in the competition department globally in all areas of knowhow and learning. This may include a combination of the following:

  • Identifying and monitoring key legal, regulatory and commercial developments of particular interest to clients and to the group.

  • Producing and updating client publications and other materials with commentary and analysis.

  • Developing, updating and disseminating commercially useful precedents, memoranda, presentations and training materials.

  • Developing and curating innovative mechanisms for capturing, sharing and communicating knowhow.

  • Organising, developing and delivering training.

  • Responding to legal queries from lawyers in the UK and global offices.

  • Supervising and coordinating lawyers and knowhow paralegals in relation to discreet knowhow tasks.

  • Working with associates on their K&L contributions as part of their appraisals.

Our commitment to you

You will be part of a vibrant people business that loves working collaboratively in a positive, supportive, fair and open atmosphere. We respect and value difference but insist on inclusivity, celebrating all aspects of diversity because we want everyone to feel that they belong.

You will be challenged, mentored and supported in the development of your career and given access to professional learning and skills-based programmes aimed at providing you with the tools to meet your career ambitions.

Linklaters provides a comprehensive benefits package across Health & Wellbeing, Finance & Protection and Family & Lifestyle, designed to reward the vital contribution you’ll be making to the firm’s success.
