What you’ll bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in statistics, applied mathematics, financial mathematics, engineering, operations research, or another quantitative field. 
  • At least seven (10) years of professional experience in data science (DS) roles, involving model development on tabular data.
  • Advanced proficiency in either Python or R; some familiarity with the other one.
  • Expert in at least one among SQL, Hive and Spark.
  • Solid understanding about the inner workings of modelling techniques: Linear / Logistic Regression, Generalized Linear Model, K-NN, SVM, Bagging, Boosting.
  • Ability to independently handle data science projects.

What we'd prefer to see:

  • Master's/higher degree in statistics, applied mathematics, financial mathematics, engineering, operations research, or another quantitative field.
  • Some idea about the Indian financial services industry and familiarity with the statistical problems related to the lending cycle: acquisition, underwriting, portfolio management, and collections.
  • Familiarity with credit bureau data and business practices.
  • Rough idea about the external signals that can be used in addition to bureau data for credit and income assessment use cases. Also, some knowledge about entity resolution and digital marketing.
  • Familiarity with most, if not all the following words: Risk scorecard, underwriting models, tradeline data, delinquent, default, Gini, ROC AUC, KS Statistic, PSI, CSI, Git, Docker.
  • Experience with modern "big data" frameworks (Hadoop, Spark, cloud).

Impact you’ll make:

This position is responsible for supporting the development of data products that look beyond the traditional credit bureau data.

  • You will become the Data Science SME in the organization, helping in both product development and sales efforts.
  • You will partner with internal and external cross-functional teams to understand the business needs of TU’s B2B customers.
  • You will be involved in evaluating third-party data sources to understand incremental value-add on top of existing TU data assets.
  • You will create products that merge different data sources to solve the client’s business problems.
  • You will deliver analytic insights and recommendations in succinct and compelling presentations for internal and external customers and an executive audience.
  • You will identify strategies and opportunities for customers to test and adopt TransUnion’s analytical products and services.
  • You will periodically be involved in cross-geography projects to understand scalability of TU products in different regions.
