Summary of Job Duties:
Provides clinical nursing care for children enrolled in a local KIDS FIRST clinic under the direction of the Clinical Coordinator/RN.
Qualifications:
- High School education or equivalent
- Currently licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Arkansas.
- Current CPR instructor status or obtained within six months of hire date.
- Must be able to provide nursing care in a local pediatric day health care facility.
- Must be flexible and work well under supervision.
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to maintain detailed records of service.
- Two years experience in providing medical and nursing care to children in a licensed facility is desirable.
Additional Information:
Responsibilities:
- Assists RN in training and monitoring for health and safety.
- Performs clinical nursing skills as directed by RN.
- Administers medications and treatments and performs procedures according to KIDS FIRST standards.
- Interacts with children and families with respect for developmental level and age-specific issues.
- Observes children for adverse changes in status and reports promptly.
- Maintains current and accurate records and ensures confidentiality.
- Responds promptly in emergency situations and intervenes appropriately.
- Assists RN in providing health-related training and education.
- Provides CPR and health and safety training for employees.
- Relays appropriate information to families.
- Assumes responsibility for acquiring knowledge and experience needed to provide patient care and relay accurate information.
- Assists RN in providing guidance and support to PRN nurses, nursing students, and/or volunteers.
- Assists RN in monitoring health and safety activities.
- Performs safety checklist as needed.
- Provides ongoing monitoring of environment for safety and infection control.
- Assists in assuring that children’s immunization status is kept current.
