The British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI) is currently seeking a Public Markets (Private Debt & Partnership Operations) Co-op Student/Intern for the Winter 2025 (January to April) term to support the Public Markets Operations team. The Public Markets group manages a portfolio of fixed income and equity investments representing over CAD $120 billion utilizing both passive and active management strategies. The Group invests in Canada, the U.S. and Internationally in both the Developed and Emerging Markets. Assets are managed using both internal management and external managers. In addition, the Group is a leader in Responsible Investing actively integrating ESG factors into our investment analysis and decision-making.
Public Markets Operations, a team within Public Markets, supports the implementation of Public Markets’ strategy, initiatives, and ongoing activities. The team is the key interface with internal and external business stakeholders in execution of Public Markets’ strategy. The team also provides portfolio management reporting, analytics, and investment execution support to Public Markets. In addition, the team provides centralized Portfolio Administration support to Public Markets’ Private Debt and Partnership Portfolio along with supporting execution of any private transaction in the Public Markets’ Pool.
Based in our offices in Victoria, British Columbia, and reporting to the Senior Manager, Private Debt & Partnership Operations, the co-op/intern will work to provide a wide range of portfolio administration and operational functions to support the Private Debt and Partnership Portfolio programs. The co-op/intern will learn day-to-day portfolio administration responsibilities including deal execution, reporting and portfolio management. The opportunity provides the ability to work with a diverse range of investment and non-investment professionals in a well-organized and proactive environment.
Work under the supervision of Senior Manager, Private Debt & Partnership Operations and assist with various projects
Provide daily operational and administrative support to the Private Debt and Partnership Portfolio programs
Ensure operational aspects of capital flows and funding activity, including subscriptions, redemptions and transfers are executed in accordance with existing procedures and contractual obligations
Maintain the cash forecasts, ensuring timely provision of detailed and accurate cash flow requirements
Prepare, enter, and reconcile tickets in both web based and manual ticketing applications
Produce timely and accurate instructions for financial settlements
Respond to requests from internal and external stakeholders
Other responsibilities as delegated by Senior Manager, Private Debt & Partnership Operations
A basic understanding of business and investment-related disciplines
Excellent concise communication & problem solving skills
Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy, product quality, and attention to detail
Interest in investment management

Competitive pay: Front Office: $2,665.00 gross bi-weekly + vacation leave paid based on 6% of salary
