Job Description Qualifications:

Boeing Commercial Airplanes has an exciting opportunity for a Multi Axis Numerical Control Drilling Machine Operator to join our team in Puyallup, WA.

Drill operators in this position setup, adjust and operate nine axis Numerically Controlled (NC) Drill machines to drill numerous holes, in large production parts, using all forms of control media and program documents. Employment in this position also requires lifting and carrying less than 10 pounds, rotation of head/neck, bending and twisting at the waist, walking, sitting, standing, lifting and carrying 10-35 pounds, pushing/pulling 10-35 pounds, reaching, finger manipulation, handling, contact with metals, exposure to noise and atmospheric conditions, and the use of personal safety gear for face/eye, hand/arm, ears and feet.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Locate/obtain work off of stringer dollie and work the priority jobs first
  • Review Work Order (WO) to determine work to be accomplished, as required
  • Access program using on-line computing system to verify operation/production information to identify and match part to work order, as required
  • Retrieve and download Numerical Control (NC) programs to machine controller using computing equipment and downloading from various servers/data bases, as required Check/verify that program has been retrieved in N/C controller, as required
  • Train and assist other employees with functions, methods and procedures (e.g., NC programs, control charts, tools) and other processes, as required
  • Consult with management and other sources (e.g., programming, planning, engineering), to resolve problems. Select and check required drills, per program or NC documents
  • Ensure drills are the correct type, length, diameter and are in good condition, replace, as required
  • Check/maintain fluid levels to keep drilling machine functioning smooth and correct, as required
  • Check work supports and adjust buttons to accommodate job to be drilled on machine, as required
  • Visually check parts for correct indexing end, load onto work supports and clamp down correctly, as required
  • Monitor machine during operation for unusual vibration or sounds, watch machine gauges, controller display or digital readout for warnings
  • Check work during each operation and/or after completed job, using precision measuring tools (e.g., dial calipers, pin gauges), as required
  • Visually inspect report data sheet to ensure that parts are in conformance, as required
  • Perform Statistical Process Control (SPC) functions, as required
  • Access control chart using on-line computer equipment to ensure that part meets production specifications, as required
  • Log all parts run on current programmed job into drilling machine's computer memory system, as required
  • After the completion of job, buy off operation with self-inspection C-map stamp, as required
  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in approved manner per company and governmental regulations, as required
  • Maintain personal and tool certifications, as required

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Must be physically able to lift 35 or more pounds during a shift

  • One plus years of experience performing precision measurements of electrical, dimensional or optical parameters

  • One plus years of using hand tools and/ or hand-held power tools?

Typical Education:

High school graduate or GED preferred.

Relocation:

This position is located in a location that does not offer relocation.  Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business consideration’

Summary pay range: $22 - $45.30 an hour.
