What we need 

We are looking for a CAD Specialist to join our Engineering Services team within our Hardware organization. Your job will be to develop practical designs from high-level concepts. You will also be responsible for configuring, maintaining, and managing Symbotic’s parts library. 

 

What we do 

The Engineering Services team is part of the Hardware Org which is responsible for Mechanical, Structural, and Electrical Engineering of the Symbot and the Structure, System Layout, and Electrical Distribution Systems. 

 

What you’ll do 

  • Administer all CAD-enabled desktop computers to ensure their trouble-free operation by CAD users. 

  • Establish service level agreements with CAD users and provide on-call technical support for these users. 

  • Develop, disseminate, and enforce CAD standards in regard to layering, dimensioning, text annotations, and other aspects of CAD usage. 

  • Formulate and conduct training sessions and teaching materials for propagating CAD knowledge throughout the organization. 

  • Analyze current CAD application usage and plan for growth or increases in software licensing and network capacity. 

  • Collaborate with Engineering, IT, and 3rd party PDM Administrator to manage Symbotic’s Solidworks implementation. 

  • Manage new and legacy commercial parts in Solidworks and PDM. 

  • Demonstrate a high level of organization and detail in the submission and disposition of Engineering Change Orders (ECOs). 

  • Utilize strong modeling and drafting skills, understand and apply accepted drafting standards, demonstrate competence in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. 

  • Reconfigure 3rd party models as needed for system optimization.  

  • Organize and maintain Symbotic’s parts library. 

 

What you’ll need 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems or related degree. 

  • 2+ years of experience as a System Administrator in a professional setting. 

  • Proven experience in overseeing the development, implementation, and utilization of Solidworks software functions, including Sheet Sets, Dynamic Blocks, Plotting/ Publishing, Custom User Interface (CUI), etc. 

  • Experience and proficiency with AutoCAD, AutoCAD electrical, Revit, ORACAD. 

  • Full familiarity with standardized document control processes - experience with PDM required. 

  • Experience with generation and maintenance of BOMs and ECOs in a PLM process. 

 

Our Environment  

  • Up to 10% of travel may be required. Employees must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations. 

  • The employee is responsible for owning a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis.
