General Summary

As the Senior Inventory Accountant you are responsible for analyzing, reconciling, and reporting on product margin related activity for North America.  For this role you will need to bring experience in inventory costing, operational inventory, inventory systems and integrations, standard costing, account reconciliations and reporting for internal management reviews. You must have an aptitude for systems and drive a culture of continuous improvements in the accounting function to improve the effectiveness, efficiency and overall performance of the Inventory Accounting Group.

You will have a solid knowledge of cost and inventory accounting principles as well as an understanding of inventory control principles. You must be reliable and able to carry out tasks autonomously and collaboratively and work well cross functionally.  You must be comfortable with ambiguity and have a proven track record of developing new processes based on changes in business needs.

What You’ll Do:

  • Oversee accounting and financial reporting for Patagonia’s inventory and margin related accounts
  • Month end journal entries and variance analysis
  • Assist in monthly forecast inputs and annual budget processes
  • Work closely with internal operations and finance teams to understand and optimize processes
  • Develop a deep understanding of margin accounts.  Use this knowledge to continuously improve and refine forecasts for Other Product Costs 
  • Inventory reserve adjustments and analysis including reserve for obsolete inventory, returns, and repairs
  • Ad hoc reporting and projects as required

Experience You Bring

  • BS/BA degree in accounting or finance, MBA or CPA preferred
  • 5 years of relevant experience in accounting, focused on cost and inventory accounting preferably in a retail environment
  • Working knowledge of product costing, inventory management, variance analysis, and financial modeling
  • Advanced Excel Skills
  • Experience with Standard Cost Inventory Methodology
  • Experience with large enterprise ERP and related tools for reporting and analysis.
  • Comfortable with team-based work structure; ability to remain flexible to change within the work environment and scope of responsibility.
  • System Implementation experience a plus
  • Experience with Microsoft D365, TM1, Power BI and Tableau a plus.

Hiring range: $100,000 - $116,000

Pay range: $88,000 - $132,000.00
