The Consumer Group at ADI is exponentially expanding its activities and engagements, growing its battery power solutions to further complement its existing mixed-signal products, using 90nm and lower geometry, CMOS Analog Power Process technologies.

The Business:

ADI’s Custom Silicon and Consumer Solutions (CSS) business has been a key provider of high-volume consumer silicon solutions for the last decade, developing key products that enable highly precise human interpretation and sensory assistance. The Team:

Custom Silicon Power (CSP) team is primarily focused on PMIC and hybrid Mixed-Signal / Power developments, for High-End / High-Volume electronic devices, such as Smartphones, Tablets and Consumer Accessories. The CSS Power Team is expanding its focus in Power Solutions, across a broad range of IC engineering profiles and levels of experience, including Analog Designer, Digital Designer, Mixed-Signal Designer, Verification Engineer, Silicon Evaluation Engineer and Layout Designer.

The Position: Analog Devices, Inc. is looking for an experienced Analog Integrated Circuit Design Engineer to join our European CSS Power Team. The candidate will be self-motivated, willing to learn exciting new technologies and develop new products, but also be able to work effectively within a talented group of individuals across multiple development locations. The candidate will join a team of Analog, Digital, Mixed-Signal CMOS designers, Mask Layout designers, Verification and Silicon Evaluation engineers, Algorithm and Software developers, Packaging and Test engineers, implementing PMIC state of the art. The candidate will always drive for Power-related Best-In-Class IPs performances, such as Low Power / High-Efficiency, Low Noise / High-PSRR, High Accuracy / Low Ripple. The candidate will be involved in the following developments, from definition to production:

  • LDO, BUCK, BOOST, BUCK-BOOST, CHARGE-PUMP, SIMO (Single-Input / Multiple Outputs)
  • IBB (Inverted BUCK-BOOST), ICP (Inverted CHARGE-PUMP), Negative LDO
  • Power Sequencer, Oscillators, PLL, Bandgap, References, ADC, DAC, I/O, SPI, I2C, SPMI, OTP, MTP, RAM, ROM, DFT

Responsibilities:

  • Work within an analog/mixed-signal design team based in Catania (Italy), Sophia-Antipolis (France), Edinburgh, Newbury (United Kingdom), and other locations worldwide.
  • The successful candidate will work closely with other cross-functional teams to define, implement and introduce products to our customers. Teams include business, applications, product definition, product engineering, layout, test engineering, project management, CAD/EDA, etc.
  • Led medium and high-complexity ICs from architecture selection to implementation and debugging, managing analog and digital teams.
  • Mixed-mode IC top-level/block design, transistor-level circuit design and simulation.  
  • Use recommended design and verification techniques, tools & flows to produce efficient designs which meet specifications.
  • Successful integration of blocks into larger mixed-signal systems.
  • Support other development team functions, such as layout, application, and test, to ensure successful delivery and meeting all requirements.
  • Perform hands-on evaluation of ICs in the lab.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

  • Master’s degree in electronic engineering and 5+ years’ experience as analog circuit designer.
  • Strong fundamentals in analog and mixed-signal design, tools and flows.
  • Design experience with circuits such as amplifiers, DACs, ADCs, bandgaps, bias circuits, LDOs, and switching power supply circuits.
  • Good understanding of power supply control architectures.
  • Knowledge of BCD process technologies.
  • Understanding of digital IC design.
  • Understand physical phenomena such as latch-up, HCI degradation, and other reliability issues.
  • Strong interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills are required.
  • Ability to take ownership of top-level subsystems and integration in the mixed-signal environment.
  • Travel to support product definition should be expected.
  • Good level of understanding of the English language, both written and spoken.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

  • Proficient with Cadence Suite (Virtuoso ADE Spectre)
  • Scripting languages (Shell, TCL, PERL, Python)
  • HDL programming languages (Verilog / SystemVerilog)
  • Analog Behavioral Models (Verilog-A, Verilog-AMS, Wreal, SystemVerilog, EEnet)
  • Mixed-Signal Verification methodology and tools (AMS / APS / Flex)
  • IC Top-Level Digital UVM Verification (Universal Verification Methodology)
  • Experience in high-voltage low geometry process technology
  • Lab silicon bring-up evaluation and Production Test support experiences
